The Finnish mobile operating system manufacturer Jolla has released a new version of Sailfish OS. One of the highlights in version 3.4 (code name “Pallas-Yllästunturi”) is an updated browser engine that stabilizes and accelerates the display of websites in the browser and e-mails in the e-mail program. In addition, Jolla has added multi-user operation to the operating system, albeit still highly expandable.
Together with a number of other innovations and minor bug fixes, this results in a extensive update, with which the alternative smartphone operating system makes a big leap forward.
Updates for browser and e-mail program Jolla has the output of the browser engine Gecko used in Sailfish OS from 45 updated to the newer, albeit no longer brand new version 52, which was last used in Firefox ESR 52. 9 was used. Sailfish OS 3.4 uses the Gecko browser engine for the first time to display HTML content in the e-mail program. For this purpose, Jolla has created an interface that allows third-party applications to access Gecko instead of having to use the outdated QtWebkit engine, which is no longer supported by many websites.

Another innovation in the e-mail app : It now also allows you to mark and copy text from received e-mails without having to use the “Reply” function. A new toolbar at the bottom of the screen contains the reply, delete and forward functions for currently open e-mails. Subfolders in IMAP or Exchange accounts can now be selected for regular synchronization
Multi-user support The user is changed via the top menu.
(Image: Screenshot)
Sailfish OS 3.4 allows you to create and Add six additional users. Their options are (still) limited, for example, they cannot install or remove apps. In addition, there is no option for them to run Android apps.
Nevertheless, there are already useful areas of application, such as the clear separation of private and professional smartphones for company use. In this way, e-mail accounts can be created for work in the context of a special “work user”. If you switch to the private profile, only private e-mail accounts are integrated.
The multi-user principle also includes the separation of all configurations from native Sailfish OS apps. Every user must assign a PIN. Fingerprints can also be set up for each user; The same applies to the language settings.
New design and functional fine-tuning The look of the call screen has been revised.
(Image: Screenshot)
Jolla has given the call screen a new design. The centrally displayed call acceptance symbol can be triggered with a horizontal swipe. Calls can be rejected by swiping vertically upwards.
A lot has happened in the apps: The document app can load large spreadsheet files faster and zoom and switch slides in presentation files more smoothly. The weather app can now also display an hourly forecast in the notification area.
Renaming files and folders in the internal file manager is now possible. With incoming Whatsapp calls, the Android support switches on the screen in the new version and shows the user a notification. The developers have also worked on Bluetooth support, which now enables the re-pairing of de-registered devices. In addition, the Absc
AVM has released a new laboratory version of its FRITZ! OS for the FRITZ! Box 7590 . This should primarily please owners of a FRITZ! Fon. With the operating system in the version 07. 24 – 82582 all users are able to view current weather data on the AVM telephone. In order for the weather forecasts to be visible on the mobile device, the FRITZ! Fon needs the latest firmware and MyFRITZ! be active. The phone is then able to call up the relevant data using the area code for its own phone number. In the Smart Home area, the new laboratory version comes with roller shutter support. It is now possible to control compatible blinds via the FRITZ! Box.
The management of tickets in the parental controls has also been improved. In addition, the device status (active / not active) is now displayed in the device selection for port sharing. The display of the port forwarding overview on mobile devices has been optimized. An extension of the access profile settings in the parental controls has also found its way into the FRITZ! Box with the new update. There are also some improvements to the FRITZ! OS 7. 20 DNS-over-TLS (DoT) function. The robustness is increased with failing or non-responding remote stations as well as with infrequent latency measurements with the laboratory version. AVM has also optimized the retry behavior of DNS over TLS (DoT).
With regard to WLAN, the WLAN> Radio channel page has been revised and the messages for WLAN under SYSTEM / Events have been improved. In the Mesh Repeater operating mode, when the Mesh Master is selected, only WLAN radio networks with visible names will be displayed in the future. If the country is set to Germany and the phone number set up automatically by the provider, the area code contained therein is recognized and transferred to the connection settings.
A complete overview of all adjustments and new features of the laboratory version for the FRITZ! Box 7590 can be found here.
After Sony released a new firmware for the PlayStation 4, all Xbox One owners can now look forward to a new update. The updated version of the operating system is available for both the Xbox One, the Xbox One X and the Xbox One S. With the introduction of the new user interface, according to Microsoft, the home menu should be just under 50% speed have won. The GUI is also the same design that can be found on the new Xbox Series. The manufacturer has largely held back with the changes. According to the company, the new design includes, among other things, an adapted tile shape and new fonts. The uniform concept can also be found in the apps and in the game pass of the PC.
In addition, the latest update from Microsoft brings new themes for the player profiles with himself. Console gamers are now able to select wallpapers from both the Xbox Series X and Series S. These themes can also be found in the Xbox app and the Windows 01 game -Bar again. An improved overview when logging in is also one of the new features of the updated firmware.
Furthermore, newcomers to the Xbox ecosystem will have it much easier in the future: Among other things, the list of the most recently used applications will already be pre-filled, which should mean that console beginners will Find your way around faster and don’t have to search for the appropriate settings in submenus. In addition, the manufacturer’s quick tips have been revised, which, however, should not be of interest to long-established Xbox users. The new update also supports the languages Czech, Greek, Hungarian and Slovak.
According to internal reports, the US Department of Justice is under investigation against Google due to excessive market power and the associated possible antitrust violations. Forcing Google to sell the popular Internet browser and part of its advertising business is being considered. This would be tantamount to breaking up, making it the first in decades in the United States. Breaking up large US tech companies has long been up for debate. For the first time, however, there seem to be concrete discussions among those responsible.
For this purpose, among other things, a committee of inquiry was set up in the US House of Representatives to investigate possible cartel violations by Google. He published a 403 – page report only last week. Among other things, it expresses major concerns about Google’s plans to completely ban third-party cookies in the future.
Google controls the global online advertising market with a value of over 100, $ 3 billion relevant. The group is also accused of using its Android operating system to push its own search engine and outperform competitors such as Microsoft Bing. Google Chrome is also the most widely used browser in the USA and also very popular in Germany.
Google is repeatedly accused by critics and competitors of collecting and restricting access to the data of many users To sell profitably for promotional purposes. The announcement that we want to block third-party cookies from the browser in the future increases this impression. This would make it even more difficult for alternative providers to advertise their products in the browser independently of Google. Competitors such as Safari or Mozilla Firefox are already blocking third-party cookies. However, it is argued that the blocking by Google, with its enormous market share, would have far more far-reaching consequences than the existing blockade on smaller browsers.

The Pixel 4 disappointed many fans. Google wants to make amends for that with the Pixel 5 – and in large parts it is doing it. TechStage has the review of the Google Pixel 5.
If you want pure Android, you love pixel phones. Because the smartphones come with an unchanged operating system. Just like Google imagines the perfect smartphone UI. The first two generations received rave reviews from both critics and buyers. With the Pixel 3, the negative voices became louder, the arguments of which could hardly be overheard with the Pixel 4 (test report) even by the biggest Pixel fans: too expensive, too small a battery, useless radar gimmicks and no wide-angle lens. Google at least partially weakened these points of criticism with the Pixel 3a (vs Pixel 4) and the Pixel 4a (review). These models were not only better received by the testers, they also sold better. Probably one reason why Google is changing its strategy with the Pixel 5 and foregoing high-end hardware in favor of the price. The review of the Google Pixel 5 reveals why this realignment works.
Appearance and processing For the first time, the Google Pixel 5 comes in only one size. With its dimensions of 145 × 70 × 8 millimeters and a weight of only 151 grams it is very handy and light. Google coats the aluminum frame with a matt, fingerprint-repellent plastic. We have it in the color Sorta Sage, a kind of turquoise green, alternatively there is the smartphone in black.
The Pixel 5 feels good. However, the feel does not come close to the silky soft feel of the Pixel 4. The smartphone with IP 68 protected against penetrating water and is sufficiently rigid, but creaks easily when twisted.
Google Pixel 5 ( 12 Pictures) Google Pixel 5
We like that the camera unit only has a k protrudes from the case by a few millimeters. Lying on your back, it only wobbles minimally. Also nice: the display bezels are narrow and run around the display at the same distance. All buttons gather on the right side and have an excellent pressure point. Google does not have a jack plug connection on the Pixel 5, headphones are not included.
Google hides the speaker on the top behind the display. That’s enough to make a phone call, you understand the other person clearly. However, in combination with the main loudspeaker radiating downwards, it only conveys a very subtle stereo effect. So far, the audio quality has been a strength of the Pixel Phones. The Pixel 5 is an exception, its sound quality is a weak point.
Has a classic fingerprint scanner on the back Benefits. In the Pixel 4, a radar eye ensures a very large notch and a comparatively secure unlocking via the biometric data of the face. Google does not do this with the Pixel 5. There is also no option to unlock the face via the front camera. Instead, Google is again using a fingerprint sensor in the middle of the back of the phone. Some will find this a step backwards. But this solution has advantages. There is still no fingerprint scanner behind glass that works anywhere near as quickly and reliably as a good physical scanner – and the one in the Pixel 5 is very good. Furthermore, thanks to the lack of radar, there is no annoying large notch, just a small punch-hole notch on the left side. Also, facial recognition methods often fail when a face mask is involved. Lastly, a physical fingerprint sensor is significantly cheaper than the other two solutions just mentioned.
Display The OLED display is 6 inches tall and protected by Gorilla Glass 6. That works compared to high-end phones like the Samsung S 20 Ultra (test report) with its 6.9-inch screen, downright tiny, but has the advantage that the Pixel 5 is not only less bulky in your pocket. Users with large hands can also reach the upper, opposite corner with one-handed operation with the thumb.
The display bezels are narrow and the same on each side. The display starts with 2340 × 1080 Pixels (432 PPI), has an aspect ratio of 19, 5: 9, supports HDR 10 + and offers a frame rate from 90 Hertz. The resulting image quality is very good. The maximum screen brightness is also very good, and content can be read without any problems in direct sunlight. It only achieves the maximum screen brightness in automatic mode and for a short time to prevent the OLED panel from burning in. Google cancels the optional adjustment of the color temperature based on the ambient light of the predecessor.
The display dispenses with gimmicks such as a curved display edge. As a result, armored glass panes hold better or protect the display edge. In addition, there is less attack surface on the display, which means that it should tend to withstand falls better.
Processor Instead of a high-end processor, Google relies on the upper mid-range Snapdragon SoC 765G, which is already used in the Oneplus Nord (test report). Advantage: In contrast to the top model Snapdragon 865 / 865 + integrates the 765 G the 5G module he needs no external 5G modem. This saves space, electricity costs and is cheaper. With regard to the benchmark value, the pixel 5 levels off somewhere between the pixel 3 and the pixel 4. On paper, even the difference to the mid-range smartphone Google Pixel 4a (test report) is just under 30 Percentage speed advantage is not very big.
In practice, renouncing high-end does not have a negative impact. Whether switching between apps, typing on the virtual keyboard or opening the camera: the Pixel 5 does all tasks quickly and comfortably. This is due to the work memory that has grown to 8 GB, but also to the pure, unmodified Android. The additional functions often introduced by other manufacturers are often at the expense of performance on their devices.
The Pixel 5 has a slot for a nano-SIM and integrates an E-SIM. There are with 128 GByte only one memory configuration. That is more than the predecessor. Nevertheless, we miss an option with more memory and / or the possibility of using micro SD cards for memory expansion.
Camera The camera is traditionally a strength of the Pixel line. The Pixel 5 remains true to this tradition. As so often, the hardware sounds unimpressive. It comes with the Sony IMX 363 With 12 Megapixels and a pixel size of 1.4 μm for the main camera, the same sensor is used that already provided very good photos with the Pixel 2. This is combined with an f / 1.7 aperture with 76 – degree field of view, a two-phase autofocus and an optical image stabilization.
Google Pixel 5 Pictures (15 Pictures) Main camera
The recordings of the main camera are convincing gene. As is typical for pixels, they offer somewhat oversaturated colors and a very high dynamic range. Especially in dramatic lighting conditions such as a bright sky with a lot of dark shadows on the ground, it shows its strengths in connection with HDR. The image quality is comparable to that of the Pixel 5; we don’t see any great progress. This also applies to the night mode, which is still looking for its own kind. There are a few improvements: the Pixel 5 automatically switches to night mode when the light conditions are right, unlike its predecessor. In addition, users can now combine night mode with portrait mode.
Speaking of portrait mode: Google still doesn’t need an additional sensor to achieve fantastic results. Unlike many other smartphones, the distance does not have to be at least 1.5 meters. New: Thanks to clever AI, you can influence the exposure of photographed faces afterwards.
The predecessor recognized faces in the live view in order to focus on them and adjust the exposure accordingly . The Pixel 5 can no longer do that. The reason for this is Google’s waiver of the in-house Pixel Neural Core. In practice we hardly missed him, the Snapdragon 765 G does a good job even without him. However, it is noticeable that the calculation of HDR images takes a little longer.
The camera hardly protrudes from the housing. What we are missing, however, is an additional telecamera. With the Pixel 4, many complained that Google, instead of using a wide-angle lens, uses a telecamera. After all, you can always cut into an image section, but not generate additional image information that can only be captured by a wide-angle camera. Google responded to the criticism and now installed a wide-angle camera instead. It’s good. It would have been even better if Google integrated an additional telephoto and wide-angle camera.
The wide-angle camera uses a 16 – Megapixel sensor with 1.0 μm pixel size, an aperture of f / 2.2 and a viewing angle of 98 Degree. Where the viewing angle could be wider, the image quality plays a major role. Nevertheless, the sensor is overall a little less bright than that of the main camera.
The front camera with fixed focus has an 8 megapixel sensor, an f / 2.0 aperture, a pixel size of 1, 12 μm and a viewing angle of 83 Degree. Your recordings are good, but not better than the Pixel 4.
Anyone who likes to record videos with their smartphone will be happy to hear that Google is finally taking them seriously. For the first time, the Pixel 5 allows 4K recordings with 60 frames per second too. There is also an Audi zoom, which is intended to limit what is heard in the video to the area filmed. A directional eavesdropping device is still a long way off.
In video mode, with regard to video stabilization, the user can switch to Locked in addition to Standard in order to fix individual objects at a greater distance. There is also an active mode for increased video stabilization and a cinema effect mode to display pans more smoothly. This works surprisingly well in the test. Also a time-lapse and a slow-motion function with 240 FPS at 1080 p is on board.
Overall, the camera app looks much tidier and easier to understand than its predecessor. The camera is better than the Pixel 4, but the differences are small. In addition, one can assume that the Pixel 4 will also receive many of the functions introduced with the Pixel 5 via software updates. To really set itself apart, the Pixel 5 lacks a third component with the telecamera, which is currently standard even in the lower middle class.
Software The Google Pixel 5 comes directly with the brand new Android 11. Here we show which smartphones the Android – 10 – update received. As with all Pixel phones, Google promises that it will receive three major version jumps and regular security updates. That’s good, but still as good as Apple has been doing with its iPhones for many years.
Google Pixel 5 screenshots (25 Pictures) Screenshot Google Pixel 5
Android runs on older Pixel phones 11 for some time, the new features are therefore already known. However, there are still some exclusive features that are reserved for the Pixel 5 – and for the most part only work in the US or in English. This includes “Hold for me”, which takes over waiting in waiting loops. It is now also possible to display an automatic subtitle independently of the app, which is calculated locally on the smartphone without an internet connection. But only in English. This also applies to the recorder, which transcribes sound recordings directly. This transcription can also be edited. If you delete certain sections, for example, the corresponding part in the sound recording is automatically deleted.
Google promises to add more languages such as German “soon”. But one shouldn’t give too much to this promise. After all, the company made similar promises with the Pixel 4 a year ago. Little has changed since then.
Probably not by chance, Sony is giving a first look at the operating system of the Playstation 5 game console today, Thursday. Microsoft recently lifted a blocking period for previews of the Xbox Series X – Sony is also providing an insight via video. In it, the manufacturer shows the new control center and the home screen of the PS5.
If the user wakes the console from sleep, it quickly returns to the control center back. The last track played is visible in the background – “Sackboy” in the presentation – and some so-called activities are lined up in the foreground. Players can return to various points in the single player game in order to continue missions that have been started there. Sony insists on highlighting the fast loading times due to the built-in SSD.
First look into the operating system of the Playstation 5.

Shortcuts to their running games allow quick joining, provided that it is multiplayer. Alternatively, players can start a picture-in-picture mode to see the gameplay of friends during their own game – the function could also be interesting for streams.
The Playstation 5 takes screenshots and videos with up to 3840 × 2160 pixels. Content can be shared via linked social media channels via a tab in the control center. Game developers can configure that friends who are not yet ready in the game receive spoiler warnings.

Chip designer Imagination Technologies and Innosilicon, so far primarily manufacturer of crypto miners, have announced a cooperation for the construction of graphics cards. Imagination Technologies provides the graphics architecture IMG B-Series BXT, Innosilicon uses it to build PCI Express 4.0 plug-in cards, apparently with fast GDDR6 memory.
In the press release, both companies write of high-end graphics cards for data centers, but also desktop PCs. These are intended for compute, AI applications and 3D games. To increase computing power, Imagination Technologies designed the graphics architecture used for a network of several chip sets. That means: A GPU consists of several silicon chips, which behave like a single chip in front of the operating system. The presentation should take place “very soon”.
Project complicated On such a AMD and Nvidia have been researching this approach for years. What can still work comparatively well in data centers thanks to parallelized compute tasks, causes performance problems, especially in latency-critical 3D games. Neither AMD nor Nvidia produce chiplet GPUs in series. The plans of Imagination Technologies and Innosilicon therefore sound ambitious at first.
Up to 2017 Imagination Technologies provided the GPU designs (PowerVR) for Apple’s systems-on-chip (SoCs) in the iPhones and iPads. After Apple switched to graphics units developed in-house, the Chinese investor Canyon Bridge Capital Partners launched the bri
You want to play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in Full HD with low details a 30 fps or in 4K with ultra details? You must have the right hardware to do this! Here are the minimum and recommended requirements communicated by Ubisoft.
by Manolo De Agostini published 16 October 2020 , at 19: 21 in the Videogames channel Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed
The 10 November arrives Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and to allow all fans of the series to enjoy the best the new chapter, Ubisoft has published the requirements system of the PC version , starting from the confi Minimum guration to play in Full HD with low details at least 21 fps up to 4K with ultra details and the same frame rate.
The software house has even released a video (above) in which it illustrates the characteristics of the PC version of the game, including multi-monitor support, various editable settings and more. Let’s see the detailed requirements together:
Note: requires a GPU with DirectX support 12 (Feature Level 12 _ 0)
The request for Windows 10 to 64 bit and the need to have a GPU with DirectX support 12 (Feature Level 12 _ 0), but this last requirement should not represent a problem for many since even old (but still widespread) video cards ensure this support .
Ubisoft does not indicate what it takes to play in 4K at Ultra details and 60 fps, but verisimilme nte an Nvidia GPU such as the RTX 3080 and an AMD GPU of high-end of the new Radeon RX series 6000 (will be presented on 28 October and was anticipated by AMD at the Ryzen event 5000), they should perform the “heavy duty”.
Best Samsung TVs Buying Guide: Welcome to What Hi-Fi?’s guide to the best Samsung TVs you can buy in 2020.
Obviously it makes sense to shop around when buying a new TV. But if you’ve previously owned a Samsung and want to stick with what you know, there are some impressive screens out there.
From monster sets to more moderately-sized models, from very affordable to very expensive, Samsung has TVs to suit all tastes, spaces and budgets.
Before you lay down your cash, there are a few things to consider. 4K and HDR will improve the picture quality drastically, but only when fed compatible content, so check your source. And do remember that no Samsung sets support Dolby Vision – instead they feature Samsung’s own rival format, HDR10+.
Samsung was also the first to sell 8K sets in the UK. While there’s still no 8K content currently available, they do upscale 4K content using Samsung’s processing tech, and generally do it very well.
Then there’s which size to go for. Measure where you’ll put it and see which size set will suit you best. Bigger isn’t always better – if it towers over your sofa, you might need to reconsider.
You should also check the small print for things such as the number of HDMI and USB sockets. While these details might seem relatively minor, they make all the difference when it comes to getting set up.
Finally, consider whether you want a brand new 2020 set or an outgoing 2019 model. It might be obvious that you’d want a new model, but you’ll likely make a big saving if you go for a discounted 2019 TV. Here’s how you distinguish one from the other: Samsung’s 2019 models are from the ‘R’ range, so look for an ‘R’ at the end of the model number if it’s a QLED or an ‘RU’ in the middle if it’s an LCD. 2020 TVs have a ‘T’ instead.

The Samsung Q90T is a slightly tricky proposition. It’s the top 4K TV in Samsung’s 2020 TV range, but as a result of the company’s increased focus on 8K models, it’s also less of a flagship model than last year’s Q90R.
Whether you consider the Q90T to be the true successor to the Q90R or not, it is a better TV overall. It has a more natural balance, significantly better motion and a much-improved sound system. It’s true that it doesn’t go quite as bright or quite as black but, in fairness to Samsung, the Q90T is also more aggressively priced.
More important than how it fares against its discontinued sibling, though, is how it fares against similarly priced 2020 TVs such as the LG OLED55CX and Philips 55OLED805. These sets go blacker and, in the case of the LG, produce brighter highlights in otherwise dark images, but the Samsung is vastly punchier with almost everything you watch and images pop from the screen in a way that OLEDs still can’t match. It also has the best, most app-packed operating system by quite a margin, and a feature set that will keep it relevant for years to come.
There’s no doubt that the Samsung Q90T is an excellent TV, and you certainly shouldn’t discount it for not being an OLED or not having as many dimming zones as its ‘predecessor’.

2. Samsung UE43TU7100
A strikingly good performance-per-pound proposition.
This is one of the cheapest 4K TVs that Samsung currently offers. But fear not, it still boasts Samsung’s core performance and feature set, at a smaller size and a lower price. In short, it’s pretty much the best cheap TV you can buy.
Most 43in TVs offer about a tenth of the features of a bigger set, but not this one. The Tizen operating system is identical to that found on pricier sets, with the same winning UI and stacked app selection. It’s 4K, naturally, HDR formats are well catered for (with the exception of Dolby Vision, which no Samsung sets support), and it supports Auto Low Latency Mode, which switches the TV to game mode when it detects a gaming signal. That’s a feature missing from many much pricier sets, such as the 48in Sony in the top spot on this list.
The contrast ratio isn’t as impressive as an OLED or QLED TV, of course, but that’s to be expected. The blacks are actually surprisingly deep for a TV this affordable, and there’s a hefty amount of punch. The TU7100 is a sharp and detailed performer, too, and it handles motion with a good balance of smoothing and authenticity. It’s an excellent picture performance for a TV of this size, and you’d have to spend a fair bit more to get a significant improvement.

3. Samsung UE55TU8000
The new TU8000 represents exceptional value for money.
SPECIFICATIONS
Screen size: 55in (also available in 43in, 50in, 65in, 75in and 82in) | Type: LCD | Backlight: edge LED | Resolution: 4K | HDR formats supported: HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ | Operating system: Tizen | HDMI inputs: 4 | ARC/eARC: eARC | Optical output: Yes | Dimensions (hwd, without stand): 71 x 123 x 6cm
Reasons to Buy
Brilliant HDR picture
Bags of tonal detail
Punchy colours
Reasons to Avoid
Not particularly bright
Uninspiring sound
Samsung’s 8-series has traditionally been positioned just below the company’s glamorous range-topping QLEDs. In the past, it has proven to be the sweet spot where picture quality and price intersect to maximum effect. And so it proves once more.
The TU8000 is astonishingly good value. For comparatively very little money you’re getting a 55-inch TV that performs brilliantly, particularly with HDR content, and boasts the best, most app-laden operating system available at any price.
It’s sound is only so-so and it’s lacking the outright brightness and next-gen HDMI features of its premium siblings, but it’s still undeniably brilliant for the money.

4. Samsung UE50TU8500
A great 4K TV for those on a tight budget.
SPECIFICATIONS
Screen size: 50in (also available in 43in, 55in and 65in) | Type: LCD | Backlight: edge LED | Resolution: 4K | HDR formats supported: HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ | Operating system: Tizen | HDMI inputs: 3 | ARC/eARC: eARC | Optical output: Yes | Dimensions (hwd, without stand): 64 x 112 x 5.7cm
Reasons to Buy
Deep, detailed blacks
Solid 4K
Exhaustive app selection
Reasons to Avoid
Slightly red colour balance
This is the price where TVs tip over from budget to mid range. And this set is the new best in class.
The feature set is very impressive, with ALLM, eARC, 4K and three formats of HDR supported. There’s no VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), but at this price, that’s hardly surprising. The Tizen OS is the same as seen on Samsung’s flagship TVs, which means a slick user interface and apps galore.
It comes with Samsung’s standard remote, plus its One Remote, which is more ergonomic and has a stripped-back selection of buttons that cover all of the bases. Voice controls are handled by Amazon’s Alexa or Samsung’s Bixby personal assistants, with Google Assistant due to land soon via a firmware update.
Picture-wise, it blows most of the similarly priced competition out of the water, with deeper blacks and bright white highlights. On the motion side of things, it displays a satisfyingly natural degree of smoothing, and manages to dig up plenty of detail. At this price, there really is no competition.

5. Samsung QE75Q950TS
Makes the most compelling case for 8K TV yet.
SPECIFICATIONS
Screen size: 75in (also available in 65in and 85in) | Type: QLED | Backlight: not applicable | Resolution: 8K | HDR formats supported: HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ | Operating system: Tizen | HDMI inputs: 4 | ARC/eARC: eARC | Optical output: Yes | Dimensions (hwd, without stand): 81 x 143 x 1.5cm
Reasons to Buy
Brilliantly sharp, detailed 4K
Bright, punchy and vibrant
Near-flawless feature set
Reasons to Avoid
No Dolby Vision
Local dimming peculiarities
Only one HDMI 2.1 socket
We’ll just come out and say it: you don’t need an 8K TV. 8K content is thin on the ground, so for the most part, you’ll be paying for something you don’t use. On the other hand, if you’re happy to spend the money, an 8K set could be a sound investment – it’ll also play 4K content, after all, and if you don’t want to buy another TV when 8K takes off, paying once could be the smart option.
The Samsung QE75Q950TS is not only a wise investment for 8K, it also manages to improve on 4K content.
That’s thanks to Samsung’s Quantum Processor 8K and its 8K AI Upscaling feature, which succeed in making non-8K content look better than ever: watching a 4K Blu-ray, we can’t recall a sharper 4K picture, with nothing looking artificially enhanced or exaggerated – it simply pops from the screen more than we’ve previously seen.
Blacks are deep and insightful, while motion is handled with aplomb. Away from the picture, the TV itself is stylish, super slim, and the bezels are amazingly thin. It sounds pretty great, too. Ticks all the boxes, then.

6. Samsung QE55Q80T
This 2020 TV is an excellent performance-per-pound proposition
SPECIFICATIONS
Screen size: 55in (also available in 49in, 65in, 75in, 85in) | Type: QLED | Backlight: direct LED | Resolution: 4K | HDR formats supported: HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ | Operating system: Tizen | HDMI inputs: 4 | ARC/eARC: eARC | Optical output: Yes | Dimensions (hwd, without stand): 71 x 123 x 5.4cm
Reasons to Buy
Excellent contrast and colours
Three-dimensional and detailed
Solid, spacious sound
Reasons to Avoid
Occasionally overcooks colours
Slightly exaggerates film grain
This new Samsung QLED sets a formidable benchmark for mid-range TVs in 2020, offering a high-end performance at a fairly mid-range price.
The Q80T looks much like any other Samsung QLED, although it is a little bit chunkier than the Q90T. There’s nothing wrong with the specs of the connections, either: the four HDMI inputs support the key features of HDMI 2.1, such as eARC, VRR and HFR.
4K HDR streaming is available via the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Apple TV+. In fact, the app support is superb, with pretty much every video and music streaming site you can think of on offer here.
A simple TV to set-up when it comes to getting the best possible picture, the Q80T ultimately delivers a brilliantly dynamic image with deep black levels, excellent contrast and neutral but vibrant colours. While there are rare occasions when watching HDR that a skin tone seems slightly overcooked, the colour balance is a great strength overall, while motion is handled confidently and smoothly throughout our testing. And while we’d recommend a soundbar or some speakers, Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound technology provides open, engaging audio.
This is the first mid-range 55-inch TV we’ve seen in 2020, but the Samsung QE55Q80T sets a formidable benchmark thanks to its dynamic and solid picture, substantial sound and thorough feature set.

7. Samsung QE65Q95T
It’s perhaps not the flagship TV we were expecting, but the Q95T is still a cracking set
SPECIFICATIONS
Type: QLED | Backlight: Direct LED | Resolution: 4K | Operating system: Tizen | HDR support: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG | HDMI inputs: 4 | USBs: 3 | Optical output: Yes | Dimensions (hwd, without stand): 83 x 145 x 3.5cm
Reasons to Buy
Rich, solid, natural picture
Very good motion
Improved sound
Reasons to Avoid
‘Predecessor’ was punchier
Brand new for 2020, the Q95T shares the top spot in Samsung’s 2020 4K TV range with the Q90T. The only differences between the two are that the Q95T gets a more stylish, metal remote and the One Connect system, which sees all connections (including power) routed through a separate box that can be easily hidden away.
Somewhat disappointingly, the Q95T and Q90T have fewer dimming zones and go less bright than the Q90R, but they’re otherwise better in every meaningful way. They deliver a richer, more solid and more natural picture, as well as better sound.
The Tizen operating system is largely unchanged, and that’s no bad thing. No other operating system has as much content or more quickly gets you to what you want to watch.
If you’re after Samsung’s top 4K model, the sensible money would be spend on the Q90T, but if you like the idea of extremely clever and neat One Connect solution, there’s nothing wrong with spending the extra money on the Q95T.

8. Samsung UE43RU7020
If the price is right, then this strong budget TV has to be considered.
SPECIFICATIONS
Type: LCD with edge LED backlight | Resolution: 4K | Operating system: Tizen | HDR support: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG | HDMI inputs: 3 | USB inputs: 2 | Optical output: Yes | Dimensions (hwd, without stand): 56 x 97 x 5.8cm
Reasons to Buy
Good HDR handling
Excellent smart platform
Strong detail and scaling
Reasons to Avoid
Unimpressive audio
Slight colour inconsistency
The Samsung UE43RU7020 is the smallest size of the cheapest range of Samsung’s 2019 current TVs. If you are strapped for cash but still want to buy an excellent, small(ish) screen, this is the one.
Black levels and detail are very good for a TV at this price – we’re not talking OLED standards, but this is no hazy production – and there’s good control of lighting. The 4K detail is good, too, and colours are natural if not quite of the richness Samsung is capable further up the food chain.
As a small, budget TV, the UE43RU7020 deserves to be taken seriously.

The new Synology NAS lands in the high-end of the manufacturer and integrates a Ryzen 4-core to handle the traffic generated by the 6 storage bays.
The Synology DS 1621 + hits the high-end with no less than 6 bays of 3.5 “convertible to 2.5” . Being oriented for intensive and continuous use, the NAS incorporates 2 fans to maintain temperatures. In addition to the 6 main bays we also have two M.2 ports for storage units with NVMe, which multiplies still plus speed.
As standard we have the AMD Ryzen V 1500 B of 4 cores at 2.2 GHz and 4 GB of RAM , being able to install a maximum of 32 GB in double slot configuration. It has 4 GbE ports that support link aggregation , in addition to 3 USB 3.0 ports and two eSATA.
The 4-core AMD Ryzen with 4GB of RAM will manage all 6 SATA storage bays without issue
Looking ahead, the Synology DS 1621 + can add up to 16 bays using modules offered by the manufacturer (which can reach up to 108 TB in a single volume) plus 10 GbE NIC3 cards added separately.
This model comes with 3-year warranty and should begin to be seen in stores in the next few days, although Synology has not revealed the price. As usual, this NAS will come with all the benefits of the company’s own DSM operating system. Today’s is an improvement compared to the one launched in February this year, the DS 1520 +.

With 15 years ago I started to overclock my PC to get every extra FPS I could in games and scratch some milliseconds in SuperPi, while relentlessly posting about hardware on the Geeknetic forum as a user and reader. They were probably so fed up with continually reading me on the forum that I became part of the writing team, where I continue to report on the latest in technology. Astrophysics and PC games are the hobbies that, after hardware, cover most of my free time.
Today it is common to find a considerable catalog of monitors that exceed the 60 Hz typical, with manufacturers releasing models of 90, 120, 144, 244 or even 360 Hz. However, if you are already users of a monitor with high refresh rates, you will already know that to configure this parameter in Windows you have to go through a few menus. Specifically, we have to go to the display settings menu, then to “Advanced display settings”, from there, click on “Display adapter properties” to later go to the “Monitor” section and then, end, define the Hz rate corresponding to our monitor.
That today, a value that is so common to change is so cumbersome is not the best Example of usability of an operating system. Luckily, it seems that Microsoft has finally decided to make things a bit easier for users and will add the option to vary the screen refresh rate directly in the menu advanced configuration.
In the Windows version 10 Insider Preview Build 20236 you can already see the new menu
At least that’s how you can see it in the Preview Build 20236 from the Windows Insider Preview program 10, where that option is already under the screen selection and monitor information that can be seen in the Windows advanced panel.

Computer Engineer by training, editor and hardware analyst at Geeknetic since 2011. I love gutting everything that comes my way, especially the latest hardware that we get here for reviews. In my spare time I fiddle with 3d printers, drones and other gadgets. For anything here you have me.
UL Benchmarks, formerly known as Futuremark , has announced the release of a new cross-platform graphical benchmark for Windows, Android and Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS. The benchmnark will be integrated into the 3DMark suite and will be called 3DMark Wild Life , thus adding to other tests that have been coming to the platform.
The test will serve to compare the graphical performance of different devices independently of their operating system. To do this, it uses a test where different scenes will be rendered with an advanced graphics engine similar to that of a game with high resource consumption, applying advanced rendering techniques and post-processing effects.
3DMark Wild Life is based on Vulkan ( Windows and Android) and Metal (iOS)
The new test will be developed under the Vulkan API in its version for Android and Windows, but it will use Apple’s Metal API for its version for the mobile operating system of the apple company.
It will have both a benchmark test and a stress test to test the hardware and see if there is a decrease in performance due to temperatures or consumption in smartphones. In addition, it will allow you to visually compare the terminals on which it is run with the rest of the users in your database.
Being integrated into 3DMark, to get Wild Life we will only have to download it:
3DMark for Windows
3DMark for Android
3DMark for iOs

There is never too much of a good horror movie. The independent studio Frictional Games has proved that it can create an atmospheric representative of this genre. After the extremely successful game SOMA, the creators return to their origins, namely to the Amnesia series, the second part of which, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, was made by another developer – The Chinese Room (authors Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture). After seven years of waiting, the third installment, which is not intended to be a direct sequel to the story, will be released next week. Therefore, the manufacturer was ready to share the hardware requirements of the PC version on the Steam platform. By the way, a new, extensive gameplay has been released with a comment from developers, which suggests that the game will try to freeze our blood in our veins.
We got to know the hardware requirements of Amnesia: Rebirth, the third installment of the horror series. Pending fixed on 20 October 2020 of the year, you can get the second part for free on the Epic Games Store.
October games 2020 – FIFA, Watch Dogs, Amnesia, Star Wars
In Amnesia: Rebirth we will play the role of Tasi Trianon, who lost her memory. Together with the heroine, we will try to discover the secrets of her past and explain how she ended up in the Algerian desert. In terms of gameplay, it is still good old Amnesia, which is confirmed by several minutes of gameplay. One thing seems certain – the dense atmosphere will often give you shivers down your spine. What PC will we need to be afraid in the new one in Amnesia? Older equipment is enough. Although the Frictional Games studio did not specify the processor models, it can be safely assumed that there are no newer units in them and, for example, in the case of Ryzen 5 it is rather 1600 than 3600. The list of cards in the recommended configuration also looks strange: GeForce GTX 680 against the Radeon RX 580, and there is also … Intel Xe-HPG (Frictional Games studio ran in the future). Here are the full hardware requirements for Amnesia: Rebirth:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5750 or Intel HD 630 (OpenGL 4.0)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 or AMD Radeon RX 580 or Intel Xe-HPG (OpenGL 4.3)

Amnesia : Rebirth – gameplay shows that there is nothing to be afraid of for the game
In the past, you might have won Amnesia games for free, but if you did not get hold of the previous giveaways, it’s before the premiere of the new version y, which was scheduled for 20 October 2020, Epic Games Store released the second installment – Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs (and Costume Quest 2). You can add it to your account free of charge until 20 October until 17: 00 Polish time. Finally, we would like to remind you that Amnesia: Rebirth will debut not only on PC (Steam), but also on the PlayStation 4 console.
Last week, Sony presented a detailed video without any announcement, in which the company’s engineer dismantled the completely new PlayStation 5 console and showed its individual structural elements. Today, in turn, the producer also published a new episode of State of Play without any announcement. It was entirely devoted to the upcoming Japanese device, and the focus was primarily on the appearance of the operating system and how everything works around the new console. We would like to remind you that the premiere of PS5 in Poland will take place 19 November, and the suggested price for the motorized version is 2299 PLN and 1849 PLN in the case of editing without the built-in Ultra HD Blu-ray drive.
Sony quite unexpectedly presented a new episode of State of Play entirely devoted to the PlayStation 5 operating system.
After starting the console, we will see an elegant animation board – it has already appeared in previous leaks and rumors, and now it has been finally confirmed. The new UX look has been designed with the gamer in mind (or at least that’s what Sony promotes). At first glance, we can notice, above all, enlarged game tiles. The manufacturer boasts two main interface. The first is Control Center, the second is Activities. In the Contol Center panel, which will be a kind of command center, we will have a quick overview of such elements as our own profile, viewing fresh notifications and information on the DualSense charge level. From the Control Center level, you will also be able to instantly change the sound and microphone settings, which will certainly be useful during screenings in online games.
The Control Panel will appear when the game is frozen (pausing for a moment and exiting the game to the interface without shutting down the game itself). What is certainly impressive is the rapid movement between Control Center and the game. We see not only the Control Panel itself, but also the constantly running game in the background – just press the appropriate button on the pad and in the same second we return to the game. The use of the new Create button was also confirmed, which allows you to capture screenshots and videos in 4K resolution. The tiles that can be found in the Control Panel also allow you to quickly switch between games. While the interface doesn’t look completely different compared to the PlayStation 4, the company argues that it was built from scratch to also take advantage of the new SSD. In addition, along with the new UX, a renewed PlayStation Store will be made available, which will be an integral part of the interface. Sony, however, has not yet shown how the store will present itself.
