Lunar Lake, Jupiter Sound and DG3: New Intel product codenames pop up

Inside the drivers for Intel graphics chips sprout the new codenames Lunar Lake, Jupiter Sound and DG3: lowest common denominator a GPU Gen 13, evolution of the current Xe architecture (Gen 12) of Tiger Lake.

Intel has removed the veils in recent days on DG1 , his first dedicated GPU , intended for entry laptops level and marketed under the name Iris Xe Max . As known for some time, the company is also working on DG2, what many believe will be its first GPU dedicated to the world of video games, based on the Xe-HPG architecture.

However, a leak in the past few hours suggests that Intel is also developing DG3 , a GPU “Gen 13” of which at the moment nothing concrete is known about the market direction: it could be an evolution of DG1 or an older sister of DG2: it is too early to tell. The codename appeared inside some drivers, and was pinched by a user on Reddit.

Another codename also emerges in the same drivers, Jupiter Sound (JPS) , which may represent the codename of a Gen GPU 13 designed to succeed the first Xe-HPG gaming solutions. Finally, here is Lunar Lake (LNL) , a code name that should indicate a CPU with integrated GPU Gen 13.

Lunar Lake could be the successor of Meteor Lake , CPU that should represent Intel’s first 7-nanometer solution according to previous rumors. Meteor Lake processors should be compatible with the future LGA socket 1700 (the same as the Alder Lake solutions expected next year and predicted to last for three generations) and support for DDR5 memory as well as PCI Express 5.0 is expected: features should be shared by Lunar Lake.
