CES: Zephyrus Duo and ZenBook Duo: Asus relies on dual-screen notebooks

Asus is renovating its three dual-screen systems for the CES 1700 Notebooks RoG Zephyrus Duo 14, ZenBook Duo 14 and ZenBook Pro Duo 14. In addition to the obligatory screen in the lid, they have another, narrow display between the lid and the keyboard; the latter was in turn moved to the front edge. In all three notebooks, the second screen is not anchored rigidly in the fuselage, but tilts towards the user when the lid is opened. This gives you a better perspective, and Asus also uses the construction to supply more fresh air to the cooling system.

In the RoG Zephyrus Duo 15 there are two screens, one Ryzen – 5000 – CPU and a GeForce RTX – 3000 – GPU.

The RoG Zephyrus Duo 15 (GX 551) is a powerful gaming notebook based around AMD’s Ryzen – 5000 – CPUs and Nvidia’s mobile GeForce RTX – 3000 – GPUs. Depending on the model, the main screen is a 4K panel with 120 Hz or a Full HD -Display with 120 Hz – both with a matt surface without touch. The second screen has either 4K or Full HD width and can be operated with a finger or pen.

The ZenBook Pro Duo 15 (UX 582) also uses Nvidia’s newest GPUs, but the CPUs are Intel processors of the tenth Core-i generation (Comet Lake-H). The second screen corresponds to the options of the Zephyrus, but the main screen is a bright 4K OLED panel with full coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.

MSI introduces new laptops with GeForce RTX 3000 and WiFi 6E cards. These include Stealth 15M, GE76 Raider and GF65 Thin

This afternoon, as part of the virtual CES trade fair 2021, the Taiwanese brand MSI has prepared its own online event called MSIology: The Ultimate Shockwave. In line with previous leaks, we expected the presentation of the company’s largest laptop so far, the successor of the GE model 66 Raider, hence the design of MSI GE 76 Raider, featuring a limited special edition. Like the other announced MSI GP models 17 Leopard, MSI GP 67 Leopard, MSI Stealth 15 M, MSI GF 65 Thin, MSI GF 75 Thin and MSI Creator 15 – MSI GE laptop 76 Raider offers work on Intel Comet Lake-H processors and GeForce RTX series graphics cards 3000. The event started with the presentation of the model MSI GE 76 Raider , equipped with 17 – inch IPS display with refresh rate 300 Hz. Yesterday, we featured all the ASUS Republic of Gamers laptops that will be available for sale in the coming months. Unlike in previous years, all ASUS ROG Zephyrus and ASUS ROG Strix models will be based on the AMD platform this time around. In addition, AMD Ryzen processors 5000 also went to a completely new design – ASUS ROG Flow X 13, which is an interesting idea for an additional eGPU station, without using the Thunderbolt 3/4 interface. Today, in turn, we present another new products from the manufacturer, focusing on Intel Tiger Lake processors. The first laptop is a gaming design – TUF Gaming Dush F 15, which presents a redesigned TUF Gaming line. The second laptop is the ASUS ZenBook Duo ultrabook 14 UX 482 – a model that we have been testing for several weeks.

At CES 2021, ASUS revealed new laptops from the TUF Gaming brand. Among them, among others redesigned TUF Gaming Dash F 15 with Intel Tiger Lake-H processors 35 and GeForce RTX 3000.

ASUS TUF Gaming Dash F 15 is a completely new design from the TUF Gaming line. It features a redesigned design that draws heavily on last year’s ROG Zephyrus G 5000 . The equipment will be available in gray and white. On the outer cover we find not only the new TUF logo, but also a large TUF inscription placed vertically, right on the left edge. The keyboard was also modified, thus removing the numeric block. The size of the touchpad has also been slightly increased. However, I have one objection to the keyboard – even though the laptop is 15, 6 “design, the arrow keys have been further reduced, now more reminiscent of ultrabooks. plus the separation of the hardware activation key and additional function keys. The whole has an interesting, green backlight, which fits nicely with the white housing. The cooling system has also been modified – the built-in fans now have 83 shoulders. Last year’s models only had 53. The blades are built on the basis of liquid crystal polymer. The manufacturer declares that the new laptop will not only be cooler, but also quieter. In Performance mode, the volume of the new ASUS TUF Gaming laptops (both A 15/AND17 and Dash F 15) must not exceed 40 dBA.

ASUS TUF Gaming Dash F 14 uses Intel Tiger Lake-H processors 35 as Intel Core i5 – 11300 H and Intel Core i7 – 11370 H. Perhaps there will also be a Core i7 – 11375 H with clock up to 5.0 GHz in Turbo Boost 2.0 mode, but we do not have such confirmation yet. In the case of graphics cards, we can count on NVIDIA GeForce RTX systems 3060 with 6 GB VRAM and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. However, until I test the hardware, I remain skeptical of such a connection, even if in the case of Tiger Lake-H systems 11300 we have a new Willow Cove architecture instead of Skylake. In the case of matrices, we will receive two panels – IPS Full HD 100 Hz (the same screen as last year’s TUF Gaming models, so by approx. % sRGB coverage) and IPS Full HD 240 Hz Close 100% sRGB coverage.

The second laptop presented is the ASUS ZenBook Duo 14 UX 482, so the latest version 14 – an inch ultrabook with two screens, which he debuted for the first time two years ago. This time, the new version of ZenBook Duo 13 uses the solution offered on the occasion of the gaming ROG Zephryus Duo 15. The additional ScreenPad + screen is set at a slight angle when opening the notebook flap, thus improving not only the comfort of using the additional screen, but also air circulation. The hardware is based only on the Intel Core i7 processor – 1080 G7. In the case of graphics systems, we have both the integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics and an optional dedicated NVIDIA GeForce MX chip 450. I was tested only with the iGPU version. Again, I assume that the ASUS ZenBook Duo 14 is an interesting offer for people who are able to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the additional ScreenPad + screen. CES: Intel Mini PCs: Dozens of NUC 11 with Tiger Lake CPUs and one with GeForce GPU

Intel has launched the mini-PC generation parallel to the consumer electronics fair CES NUC 11 announced. For the first time, the models are based on 10 – nanometers -Processors in-house after the NUC – 10 -PCs exclusively with the 11 nm CPUs Comet Lake-U (Core i – 3200 U) published.

Dozens of different NUC are shared within three sub-categories – 11 – PCs on:

NUC 11 Performance (Panther Canyon): Mini PCs with Tiger Lake CPUs including an integrated Xe GPU for end customers NUC 11 Pro (Tiger Canyon): Mini PCs with Tiger Lake CPUs including integrated Xe GPU and vPro remote maintenance options for business customers NUC 11 Enthusiast ( Phantom Canyon): Slightly larger PCs with Tiger Lake CPUs and additional GeForce GPU for gamers Core i7 – 1165 G7 in top models Panther Canyon is the cheapest series in the typical palm-sized housing. Two and four cores are used in the form of the Core i3 – 1115 G4, Core i5 – 1115 G7 and Core i7 – 1165 G7. Also included are two SO-DIMMs for up to 56 GByte DDR4- 3200 – SDRAM, two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports – Intel does without Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 -, three times USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 GBit / s) Type A, Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 instead of DP 1.2 as before.

Intel continues to offer options with 38 and 51 mm high housings – in the latter, in addition to an M.2 SSD, a 2.5-inch data carrier also fits. The third variant is new with 56 mm high housing, which comes with a wireless -Charger comes under the lid. For example, users can charge a smartphone by placing it on it.

The flat 38 – mm-NUCs can be identified by a K in the model number, for example NUC 11 PAKi7, the 51 – mm versions on an H (NUC 11 PAHi7) and the 56 – mm newbies in one Q (NUC 11 PAQi7). The Pro-NUCs Tiger Canyon can be configured with additional connections, and Thunderbolt 4 is included.

Gaming-NUC with Nvidia-GPU Phantom Canyon (NUC 11 Enthusiast) represents a spiritual successor to Hades Canyon: Both mini-PCs come in a wider case with an illuminated skull and are suitable for Full -HD gaming. At that time, Intel installed the Kaby Lake-G processor with a semi-custom Radeon graphics chip from AMD. Today Nvidia’s mid-range GPU GeForce RTX 2060 with 6 GB of GDDR6 memory is used – probably in good shape a firmly soldered chip like in notebooks. The GPU is getting on in years, but is still well suited for Full HD gaming. Intel always installs the four-core Core i7 in the NUC 11 Enthusiast – 1165 G7.

The NUC 10 enthusiast is something wider (or higher positioned) than the other models, but houses Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060.

Intel Launches NUC 11 for Enthusiasts: Tiger Lake & GeForce RTX 2060 Inside

Intel has officially launched its next-generation miniature PC designed for enthusiasts that demand performance sufficient for gaming. The NUC 11 systems code-named Panther Canyon pack Intel’s quad-core 11th Generation Core ‘Tiger Lake’ processor as well as Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060 graphics chip featuring the ‘Turing’ architecture.

Intel is certainly not a stranger to NUCs with a discrete GPU, but so far, the company has not really offered a system that would actually feature a decent gaming-capable standalone graphics processor (of course if we take the modular NUC 9 Pro/Extreme out of the equation). The NUC 11 Enthusiast ‘Phantom Canyon’ is the company’s first attempt to wed compact dimensions (221 × 142 × 42mm) with gaming-grade graphics and even upgradeability.

Intel’s NUC 11 Enthusiast (NUC11PHKi7C/NUC11PHKi7CAA) is based on the quad-core Intel Core i7-1165G7 (up to 4.70GHz, 12 MB cache, 28W TDP) processor that is paired with up to 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory (up to 64 GB ), Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060 discrete GPU with 6 GB of GDDR6 memory, and Intel’s Optane Memory H10 (32 GB + 512 GB) or H20 SSD. Unlike memory and storage, the graphics processor cannot be removed, but those who want to upgrade this GPU will be able to do it using one of the system’s two Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The small form-factor PC has a rather advanced connectivity department. On the wireless side of things, Intel’s NUC 11 Enthusiast includes an Intel AX201 Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5 module, a quad far-field microphone array with Alexa support and an IR sensor on the front. As for wired section, it includes a 2.5GbE connector, six USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, four display outputs (a DisplayPort 1.4, an HDMI 2.0b, two TB4 ports), an SDXC slot with UHS-II support, and a 3.5-mm audio jack for headsets, according to a product brief published by FanlessTech.

Considering performance, connectivity, and even upgradeability of the NUC 11 Enthusiast ‘Phantom Canyon’, these PCs will be able to address a rather broad set of customers, including gamers, multimedia enthusiasts, and even content creators who want a compact desktop.

Intel yet has to announce MSRPs of its NUC 11 Enthusiast barebones as well as pre-built kits, but since the systems are expected to hit the market shortly, their real pricing will transpire soon enough.

Asus Introduces RTX TUF Laptops, Slim New Model

The TUF line has long been Asus’s go-to budget gaming solution, putting portability and value first. That doesn’t mean TUF laptops aren’t without power, but they tend to come thinner and lighter than the rest of Asus’ gaming line-up. Today, at CES 2021, Asus announced that it’s pushing that even further with a brand new TUF model, the TUF Dash F15, which will be the smallest TUF to date.

The Dash F15 introduced today aims to further the TUF line’s portability while still maintaining above average performance.

It weighs 4.4 pounds and is 14.2 x 9.9 x 0.8 inches, making it the thinnest and lightest TUF laptop. As such, it’ll only support a mobile RTX 3070 graphics card with 8GB of VRAM. But combine that with its Tiger Lake CPU options and IPS display configs ranging from 1080p resolution at 60 Hz to 240 Hz, and its identity as a gaming machine is secured.

The TUF Dash F15 also has DDR4-3200 RAM, with options ranging from 8GB to 32GB, plus M.2 SSD choices up to 1TB. Tiger Lake means Thunderbolt 4 ports as well. And while USB-C charging won’t hold up to the pressures of gaming, the Dash F15 also supports it for emergencies and casual use, emphasizing its portable nature. A 76Whr battery also means you might see up to 16.6 hours of battery life, at least going by Asus’ internal claims.

Despite its size, the Dash F15 also has four 12V fans with 83 blades a piece, plus 5 copper pipes for cooling.

A new laptop also means a new chassis, which the Dash F15 has in both gray and white options. The aesthetic here makes the laptop look like it just came off the assembly line, with the TUF name printed along the side in a utilitarian font and the TUF logo decorating an upper corner. It’s enough to make the Dash F15 stand out without being overwhelming.

At the same time, Asus announced at CES 2021 refreshes of the TUF A15 and TUF A17, which are slightly larger and heavier than the Dash 15 but also more powerful. They should also appeal to AMD fans, as they’ll both pack next-gen AMD Ryzen and Renoir CPUs alongside next-gen Nvidia RTX GPUs. Memory options range from 8-32GB of DDR4-3200 MHz RAM, while storage capacities can reach up to 1TB. Display options are all FHD, with refresh rate configs ranging from 60 – 240 Hz.

The A15 seems to have a new chassis that’s similar to the Dash F15’s, though it has more detailing around its upper fan vents, plus decals on the lid’s corners that look like rivet holes.

The A17, meanwhile, goes with a more traditional TUF look. To emphasize their slightly more premium nature, both the A15 and A17 will have plastic and metal case options.

Asus has yet to announce pricing info on any of its newest laptops, but has confirmed that the TUF Dash F15 will be available in North America starting in Q1 of 2021.

Intel May Start Outsourcing Some CPU Production to TSMC in 2H 2021

Intel confirmed plans to outsource production of some of its graphics processors to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. about half a year ago and then outlined plans to produce some of its ‘Atom and Xeon system-on-chips’ at TSMC. The company also recently reiterated intentions to more actively use third-party manufacturing and based on a report from TrendForce, Intel’s outsourcing plans now include production of its Core processors at TSMC.

The world’s largest supplier of microprocessors intends to produce some of its Core i3 processors at TSMC using the latter’s N5 (5 nm) fabrication process starting from the second half of 2021, reports TrendForce, a technology consulting firm from Taiwan. At present, it is unclear which microarchitecture the new CPUs will use and whether they will rely on any known CPU design, but by 2H 2021 Intel will have at least three competitive up-to-date microarchitectures in its possession, including Willow Cove, Golden Cove, and Cypress Cove.

Analysts from TrendForce also claim that Intel will outsource production of undisclosed mid-range and high-end CPUs to TSMC in the second half of 2022. The processors will reportedly be made using TSMC’s N3 (3 nm) fabrication process. It should be noted that in the second half of 2022 TSMC plans to offer both N4 (which is IP-compatible with N5) and N3 process technologies with the latter being primarily aimed at TSMC’s alpha customer, Apple.

The information about Intel outsourcing its Core i3 and other CPUs to TSMC is unofficial, Intel has never confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. It does make sense for Intel to outsource some of its entry-level and, perhaps, mid-range processors to a third party to free up its own manufacturing capacity for higher-end CPUs. In particular, it will be especially beneficial for Intel to produce more advanced Xeon Scalable ‘Ice Lake’, Core i5/i7 ‘Tiger Lake-H’, and Core i5/i7 ‘Alder Lake’ processors using its 10 nm process technologies at its own fabs while outsourcing production of cheaper products to others.

Intel has officially confirmed plans to use TSMC’s capacities to make compute layer of its Xe-HPC codenamed Ponte Vecchio GPU as well as its Xe-HPG gaming GPUs. For competitive reasons, the company did not disclose which node it intends to use for the said graphics processors. Some believe that Intel will use TSMC’s N6 fabrication process, but there are reports that the company will use a custom version of TSMC’s N7 for its gaming GPUs.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 – specifications and technical aspects of the new Ampere cards for laptops

NVIDIA today unveiled a new generation of notebook graphics cards. GeForce RTX cards 3060, GeForce RTX 3070 and GeForce RTX 3080. In the first place, however, there are two more powerful systems in stores, based on the Ampere GA core 104. For GeForce RTX 3060, the laptops will be available in late February at from 999 dollars. The technical aspects were not particularly focused on the presentation. Fortunately, a bit more information appeared after the presentation. We get quite an interesting case in the context of GeForce RTX 3060 – the mobile version offers more CUDA, Tensor and RT cores, but at the same time twice less memory, with lower bandwidth. What is the situation with the other cards and what functionalities can we count on in the upcoming laptops?

We got to know the details of the specifications of NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards 3060, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 in versions intended for laptops. I must admit that the most interesting is the lowest Ampere chip, based on the GA core 106.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is based generally on the Ampere GA core 106 with size 300 mm², equipped with m .in. in 13, 2 billion transistors. The full chip has CUDA cores 4096. Thus, neither the mobile nor the desktop card has a full GA core 104. In the case of a desktop card, 28 SM blocks from 3584 stream processors. The mobile version of RTX 3060 comes with 30 SM blocks and 3840 CUDA cores. Full GA 106 has 31658 Streaming Multiprocessors blocks. NVIDIA has also gone crazy about VRAM. Desktop card comes with 12 GB GDDR6 effective clock speed 17000 MHz. The mobile version has 6 GB VRAM clocked 14000 MHz (Max-Q is already 12000 MHz).

With the new generation of graphics cards, notebooks will come with several new and improved solutions. The first is the Resizable BAR – Base Address Register, which optimizes data transfer between the processor and the graphics card, resulting in easier and faster access to VRAM. In some games, we can count on a slightly higher performance thanks to the active ReSize BAR function. This technique will only be supported on laptops with NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards 3000 with Intel Tiger Lake-H and AMD processors Cezanne-H. The manufacturer will release a graphics driver update at the end of February, which will add support for Resizable BAR.

Another novelty for Dynamic Boost 2.0 and Whisper Mode 2.0 – both functions are closely related to the third generation of Max-Q Design, although Dynamic Boost 2.0 is also to be offered in some laptops with full RTX cards 3000. In the case of Dynamic Boost 2.0, artificial intelligence will be used to analyze more efficiently where more power is to be directed. Each single image frame will be analyzed in this way and, if necessary, the TDP of the graphics card will be dynamically increased (by 15 Up), thus increasing the core clock and therefore overall performance. Whisper Mode 2.0, on the other hand, brings a new level of volume management to laptops. It has been redesigned from the ground up and built into every laptop 3000) at the system level. The user selects the desired volume level and the AI-based Whisper Mode 2.0 algorithms manage the CPU, GPU, system temperatures and fan speeds to ensure quiet operation and the best possible performance.

Asus Introduces More Versatile Zephyrus Duo, Strix Refreshes

Asus usually divides its gaming laptops into three categories: eSports (Strix), hardcore (Zephyrus) and casual (TUF). Strix is where you’ll find the most powerful components, while the latter is where you’ll save. But with a new generation of AMD Ryzen CPUs set to compete with Intel’s Tiger Lake soon, plus new Nvidia mobile RTX models just around the corner, Zephyrus and Strix look more tempting than ever at this year’s CES. That’s in no small part thanks to software innovation on Asus’ end that strives to show these components in the best light.

Asus Zephyrus Duo SE

Screen-obsessed gamers can rest easy knowing that this year, Asus is bringing the improvements it made in the Zenbook Duo line to the Zephyrus Duo as well. The Zephyrus Duo line sets itself apart from other best gaming laptop competitors by incorporating a long, thin “screenpad plus” just above its keyboard. It can be used for notes, videos, music control and productivity. The Zephyrus Duo has been around since last year, but this year’s Zephyrus Duo 15 SE refreshes it with new internals and software.

The Zephyrus Duo 15 SE is all about displays. Its main screen is 15.6 inches, Pantone-validated, IPS and has both 1080p at 300 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz options. Its touchpad screenpad plus, meanwhile, is 14.1 inches, IPS and comes in either 1920 x 550 or 3840 x 1100 resolution. The screenpad plus sits at a 13-degree angle when the laptop is open, for both easy viewing and touch control.

Powering both of these screens is either an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor or a Ryzen 7 5800H. The Zephyrus Duo 15 SE also has a discrete GPU, with options for the RTX 3070 with 8GB of VRAM or the RTX 3080 with 16GB of VRAM. It’s also got 16GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM out of the box, which you can expand up to 32GB total. In that same fashion, the Zephyrus Duo 15 SE also has two M.2 SSD slots and comes with either 512GB or 1TB of storage pre-installed in one slot.

Debuting with the Zephyrus Duo SE is more advanced screenpad software with a new control center hub for quickly accessing screenpad apps, plus pre-built shortcut menus for Adobe programs. Asus will also make its screenpad app development tools open source shortly after CES, which means we may potentially see new tools for use with streaming apps and other software that might benefit from setting custom controls on a secondary display.

Rounding all of these features out is a backlit keyboard with 1.4mm of key travel and 4 speakers including two downward firing woofers. There’s also a microphone array with AI noise cancellation, though no webcam.

All of this utility means a fairly large body at 14.2 x 10.6 x 0.8 inches and a hefty weight at 5.3 pounds. The chassis comes in a stylized black finish, which has a slash across that separates a plain matte black area from one decorated with abstract pixels.

If a screenpad doesn’t seem necessary to you, you can also opt for either the refreshed Zephyrus G14 or Zephyrus G15. These have the same aesthetic design and next-generation AMD CPUs and RTX mobile GPUs. The G14 limits its display to 1080p at 144 Hz or

1440p

at 120 Hz, while the G15 has options for 1080p at 144 Hz and 1440p at 165 Hz. Both also have the same memory and storage options as the Duo 15 SE.

Apart from their lack of a screenpad, setting these two laptops apart is their AniMe Matrix display, which uses the pixels on the back of their lids to show GIFs and other custom animated or still designs.

Asus also announced today refreshes of the ROG Strix Scar 15 and ROG Strix Scar 17, plus their slightly smaller G15 and G17 counterparts. These are Asus’ eSports laptops and represent the pinnacle of its gaming machines. The new SKUs come with AMD’s next generation of mobile CPUs and Nvidia’s next generation of mobile GPUs, plus 32GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage. Displays range from 1080p at 144 Hz to 1440p at 165 Hz, depending on your configuration.

The chassis is colorful, with full per-key RGB keyboards and, on the G-series, colored rubber armor on the back of the laptop hinge. Thickness varies across models but generally hits 1 inch. We don’t yet know how much Asus’ new Strix laptops weigh.

Asus has yet to announce pricing info on any of its newest laptops but has confirmed that the Zephyrus Duo 15 SE will be available in North America in Q1 2021.

Good news for laptop gamers: Gaming laptops with Intel Tiger Lake H-series processors are finally here. Up until this point, Intel gamers looking for high power laptop chips on the company’s latest CPU series have been out of luck. But now, Intel’s 11th Generation seems to have caught up with its predecessors, with Acer specifically announcing a new line of gaming laptops at CES 2021 today that use 11th Gen H-series processors. There’s one catch, however. They’re still not 45W.

Acer’s new gaming laptops for CES 2021 include an update to the Predator Triton 300 called the Predator Triton 300 SE, plus refreshes for the Predator Helios 300 and Nitro 5. The Predator Triton 300 and Nitro 5 now both have options for 11th Generation Intel H-35 series processors.

Curiously, the Helios 300 will stick with 10th Gen H-series processors. That’s likely because the Helios is more high-end than the other options here, which, again, emphasizes how unusual it is to cap an H-series CPU at 35W.

That means it’s probably a good thing that the Nitro 5 also has an AMD config.

Acer Predator Triton 300 SE

The Triton 300 SE is the new base level for Acer’s Predator line. It has CPU options up to the 11th Generation Intel Core i7 H35-series, plus an RTX 3060 mobile GPU. The laptop also comes with up to 24GB of RAM and up to a 1TB SSD, plus an optional fingerprint reader. The display is 14 inches with 1080p resolution at a 144Hz refresh rate. While the keyboard doesn’t have per-key RGB, it is 3-zone RGB.

All of that makes for a respectable gaming laptop, though we’re not sure what exactly makes it a special edition. The silver case looks metallic, but Acer hasn’t shared its exact material yet.

Still, if you want both power and an Intel CPU, you might want to upgrade to the new Predator Helios 300. This laptop improves upon the Triton with an RTX 3080 mobile GPU, up to 32GB of RAM and a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display at 240 Hz. However, you’ll still be using a 10th Generation H-series Intel chip here, which has us wondering when or if Intel plans to release a 45W+ H-series Tiger Lake processor.

Visually, the Helios resembles the Triton, though with a black, more angular case that has LED decoration on the lid and a full per-key RGB keyboard inside.

Acer Nitro 5

Finally, the Nitro 5 is being refreshed with both new Intel and AMD CPU options. The Intel version of the Nitro 5 has 11th Gen Intel H-35 processor options, while the AMD version can pack up to a Ryzen 9 5900X HX mobile CPU. However, there’s more separating these laptops than just their CPUs.

The Intel Nitro 5 will launch with a GTX 1650 GPU (though it will eventually get configuration options up to an RTX 3060 Max-Q) and up to 32GB of RAM, plus a 14-inch 1080p, 144 Hz display.

Meanwhile, the AMD version of the laptop has configuration options with up to an RTX 3080 GPU and 32GB of RAM. It also comes with either a 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch display with your choice between 1440p at 165 Hz or 1080p at 360 Hz.

That’s a pretty massive difference between Intel and AMD, so keep in mind when shopping that not all Nitro 5s are built the same — even if they look it. Both the Intel and AMD Nitro 5s have similar black cases and the same 3-zone RGB keyboard.

We’re happy to see Tiger Lake finally getting H-series processor options, but given alternative options from AMD and even Intel’s own 10th Gen chips, we have to wonder if the H35 series is enough.

The Predator Triton 300 SE will launch in North America in March at a starting price of $1,399, while the Helios 300 will hit North American retailers in February at a starting price of $1,249. The Intel Nitro 5 still has yet to get a North American release date, but AMD models will come out in North America in February starting at $749.
