YouTube is finally enabling HDR support on Microsoft’s Xbox consoles. The HDR support works across existing Xbox One S / X devices and new consoles like the Xbox Series X and Series S. As long as you have a TV or monitor capable of displaying HDR videos, the YouTube app will now automatically switch to output HDR content.
The YouTube app on Xbox has never supported HDR previously, despite HDR being available on the PlayStation 4 since 2019. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X launched in November without YouTube HDR support, and it’s still not available on the PS5 yet — a step back from what was available on PS4.
Engadget notes you can confirm that HDR is outputting correctly from the YouTube app on Xbox by enabling the “stats for nerds” panel (see above). A lot of TVs will also display a HDR prompt or switch to a HDR mode when content is played.
Now we just need more HDR content to become available on YouTube. Some of the best HDR content on YouTube is still test videos that were uploaded years ago. We’re starting to see more trailers and videos come with HDR options, but the vast majority of creators don’t upload content with HDR.
Capcom dedicated a substantial presentation to Resident Evil Village, the latest iteration of the survival horror series. We finally have a release date, much closer than expected, as well as two new trailers and a free demo for PlayStation 5 users.
by Pasquale Fusco published on 22 January 2021 , at 11: 21 in the Videogames channel Capcom Resident Evil
On the occasion of a showcase entirely dedicated to the new survival horror, Capcom announced an avalanche of news for Resident Evil Village . The event allowed us to watch a couple of unreleased footage, including a gameplay trailer, and the presentation of Re: Verse , free multiplayer experience celebrating the 25 th anniversary of the series .
Among the other announcements there was the confirmation of the launch date of Village, the arrival of the game on old-gen consoles and the reveal of an exclusive PS5 demo downloadable from today.
Resident Evil Village will be released on 7 May 2021, not only on next-gen
It’s official: the eighth chapter of Resident Evil will be available from 7 May .
The latest iteration of the historic horror saga will not only land on PC and on new generation consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X | S), but also on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One , complete with a cross-buy. PS4 users will receive a free upgrade to the digital copy for PS5, while Xbox users will rely on Smart Delivery for the transition from ‘old’ to next-gen.
Capcom’s announcement comes with a sensational trailer dedicated to the story of Resident Evil Village . The last chapter will see again Ethan Winters protagonist , character introduced in RE7: this time Ethan is on the trail of daughter, kidnapped and taken to a mysterious village populated by unclean beings – and which recalls the atmosphere of the most famous Resident Evil 4 and her daughters, capable of transforming themselves into lethal swarms of insects. It certainly can’t be called a cheerful outing.
It seems that the next Resident Evil will return to offer a greater dose of action, judging by the new videos presented by Capcom. In the gameplay trailer commented by producer Peter Fabiano we can enjoy six minutes of unreleased gameplay , in which we witness a remarkable evolution of the combat system – with the possibility of parrying melee attacks – and an increase in the number of enemies on the screen, which will make every situation even more excited.
With the latest presentation we also have met “The Duke”, a merchant who will allow us to buy new equipment and sell objects found in Lady Dimitrescu’s village and castle. There will be a crafting system based on the use of consumables, with which we can create new resources and ammunition for our weapons.
Owners of PlayStation 5 can already access an exclusive preview of Resident Evil Village via the demo Maiden . As Fabiano himself states, we are not talking about a simple excerpt from the game’s campaign, but about a stand-alone experience in which we will play the role of another protagonist. We will take the opportunity to explore part of the setting and to savor the technical goodness of the always performing RE Engine on Sony’s next-gen console.
Resident Evil Re: Verse, a 6 player deathmatch included in Village
Among the “surprises” of the showcase there was also the announcement of Resident Evil Re: Verse , multiplayer title that represents an experience in its own right, but which will be included for free in the Village offer. It will be Capcom’s gift for fans to celebrate together the 25 th anniversary of the franchise – scheduled for March.
Re: Verse offers a series of battles deathmatches for four to six players , in which each participant will take on the role of a character from the series, each equipped with a unique set of skills. The roster will consist of the protagonists and villains encountered in the last four episodes, which include the two remakes (RE2 and RE3: Nemesis) and the seventh chapter. When a player is defeated during the fight, his character will regenerate and transform into a biological weapon , acquiring an important tactical advantage over the opponents.
Resident Evil Re: Verse matches will feature an original graphic style – “cartoonish”, one could say – chosen with the obvious intention of lightening the impact on performance. We remind you, moreover, that Re: Verse will land on PS4, Xbox One and PC and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S through backwards compatibility.
I pre-order of Resident Evil Village are already open for the standard editions, in physical and digital version, for the Deluxe Edition and the richest Collector’s Edition . The Deluxe Edition includes the Trauma Pack add-on to offer a number of exclusive benefits, including instant access to a higher difficulty level. The Collector’s Edition offers a Chris Redfield figurine, a SteelBook, an artbook, a fabric map of the village and a key art of the game.
Last year, Capcon announced the game Resident Evil Village, which will be a direct continuation of Resident Evil 7. We will play the well-known Ethan again, although we will receive a completely different place of action, namely a European village. We know from previous materials that this time werewolves and witches will play an important role in the game. Changing the location of the action to a more winter location should not negatively affect the climate and the level of fear. Capcon has just presented a new trailer and gameplay, which confirms that Resident Evil Village is definitely worth waiting for. In addition, owners of the Sony PlayStation 5 console can now check a sample of the possibilities of the new Japanese title. The MAIDEN demo has been made available, which we have already checked.
Capcom has released a new trailer and gameplay from the long-awaited Resident Evil Village game. The game will debut on PC, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox One / Series S / X on May 7 670 year. In addition, PlayStation 5 owners received an exclusive MAIDEN demo, which we have also checked.
In the published third trailer, the main character of the game went to a huge castle, inhabited by several witches (vampires?). We can expect, among others combat with the use of firearms, frequent puzzles to solve or blocking attacks, which is to be one of the pillars of the new version. The trailer also shows a mysterious man with a huge hammer, Chris and a werewolf. Our task will be to solve the mystery of the town and why it has become so dangerous. In terms of visuals, however, we expect a graphical jump in relation to Resident Evil 7. The released MAIDEN demo shows, however, that we should not count on a completely new generation.
It is absolutely not that the game is looks bad. Ba! It looks really good, because Resident Evil Village uses HDR and a wide range of colors in a fantastic way, which we will not see in the screenshots below taken directly from PlayStation 5. The game offers, above all, great quality of lighting and a great atmosphere. Although the MAIDEN demo is short (depending on the tempo from 10 to 30 minutes with a single pass), it cannot be denied a very good climate through which we feel constant anxiety. We start in the dungeons, then free ourselves from them and traverse the corridors of the huge castle. The demo ends at the point where you can only say “What ?! It’s over ?! I want more!” The RE Engine has been even more refined, and the audio-visual setting is again high-end. In addition, the demo is rendered in native 4K resolution (although the quality of textures at close range could be better) and while maintaining smooth 60 FPS. The demo itself, however, says very little about the storyline, so here we have to wait for the game’s debut. And this one will come soon. Capcon confirmed the premiere prepared for May 7 2021. Resident Evil Village will appear on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. In the case of PlayStation, purchasing the PS4 edition guarantees access to the PS5 version. For Xbox, the Smart Delivery feature will be available.
Owners of a Playstation 5 can download a demo of the upcoming horror game “Resident Evil 8”. According to the developer, the free demo is independent of the main game. So you don’t slip into the role of Ethan Winters, who will be the protagonist in the full “Resident Evil 8”.
Instead, you play as a mysterious character called “the Maiden” who has to escape from a fortress unarmed. The developers describe the demo for “Resident Evil 8” as a kind of short story in the game world of the upcoming horror title.
Cross-platform demo in spring A cross-platform version of the “Resident Evil 8” demo will follow in the spring – it is still unclear whether this will be the same experience as on the PS5. In a Twitter post, Capcom only writes of “a demo” that owners of other platforms expect.
Developer Capcom has good news for owners of last-gen consoles: “RE8” will also be available on Playstation 4 and Xbox One appear. Previously only versions for PC, Xbox Series X / S and PS5 had been confirmed. Capcom now specifies May 7th as the release date 2021.
Follows “Biohazard” “Resident Evil 8” is the new part of the cult horror series from Japan. A close collaboration with Sony had already emerged when the announcement was made: “RE8” was unveiled at a Playstation event last June. The eighth main part of the horror series takes place after part 7: Protagonist Ethan and his wife Mia live together in idyll after the events of “Biohazard”.
Trailer for “Resident Evil 8 “on the Playstation 5
(Source: Capcom) The game should mainly take place in the eponymous “village” and the surrounding forests. Ethan is controlled from the first person perspective again, compared to its predecessor, Capcom wants to put more emphasis on the fights.
If you’ve got a PlayStation 5, you probably know there’s not a lot to play right now — particularly if you’ve already finished the likes of Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls and Astro’s Playroom. But here’s something to (very briefly) tide you over: you can now download the Resident Evil Village “Maiden”demo ahead of the full game’s just-announced May 7th release date. It wasn’t available in the PS Store at first, but it’s been there for about an hour now.
In the PlayStation Store on my PS5, the game was featured front and center in the “What’s hot” section for me, and I was able to start the download with a couple button presses. But if you’re away from your PS5 and want to remotely download the demo so it’s ready to play later, there’s a few ways to go about that, too.
If you’re using a browser, here’s the link to Maiden’s listing on the PlayStation Store, where you should be able to add the game to your library.
If you’re using the PlayStation mobile app, tap the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen and search for “maiden.” For me, Maiden was the fourth search result. Tap on that, and you should be able to start the download from there.
On the mobile app, you can also access the Maiden page from the Resident Evil Village listing by tapping the box above the preorder button and selecting Maiden from the list of editions for Village.
Maiden is a separate experience from Resident Evil Village whereyou play as a character known as “the maiden” instead of Village’s protagonist, Ethan Winters. If you want to learn more about the demo before downloading, check out this post on the PlayStation Blog.
Resident Evil Village will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One, and PC on May 7th. Capcom says a “multiplatform demo” for the game will be available this spring.
The eighth mainline Resident Evil game now has a release date. Today at a live-streamed event, developer Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village will be coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 7th, 2021 — as well as current-generation consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One. The company also announced that a demo will be available for PS5 owners later today.
The event also provided a first proper look at the game with a new, rather unsettling trailer, which you can see above. It gives a good look at the disturbing castle where Village takes place, along with glimpse at pure gameplay. Like the last Resident Evil, the new title is a first-person survival horror experience.
In addition to the single-player RE game, Capcom revealed Re:Verse, a multiplayer title featuring major characters from the Resident Evil universe. It’ll be available for free for anyone who buys Village.
Village was first announced during a PS5 reveal event last year, and it comes at a time when the Resident Evil series is at a high point creatively. 2017’s Resident Evil 7 reinvigorated the franchise with a renewed focus on horror, and it was followed by two well-received remakes in Resident Evil 2 and 3. Outside of the games, there’s also a new live-action TV series in the works at Netflix.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint had a rough launch back in 2019 but after a year of additional development and several major updates, the game is in much better shape now. If you’ve yet to give the game a go, then this week is the perfect time as the game is free to play.
From today until the 25th of January, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is free to download and play via uPlay or the Epic Games Store. The free weekend is also available on Xbox One and PS4.
As we can see from the trailer above, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently holding a collaboration event with Rainbow Six Siege. During this, players will “take on Sentinel and their latest plans of destruction with the help of Rainbow Six operators”.
Just like Ghost Recon Wildlands, in Breakpoint, players can team up in squads of 4 and explore an open world map, taking down enemies along the way using various guns, gadgets and vehicles. You can find the full details and participate in the free weekend, HERE.

Among Us was one of the smash hits of 2020 — it reportedly had nearly half a billion players in November — and there are some exciting updates announced for the game, including a new airship map and an account system. In a blog posted yesterday, developer Innersloth discussed how it has adapted in response to the game’s enormous popularity and why new features are taking a while to be released.
“Among Us gained incredible traction pretty late into 2020 that we weren’t expecting, and that meant A LOT of change for us,” the developers said. Innersloth, which is comprised of just four employees, had to spend two months restructuring, figuring out processes, and working with new external partners, according to the blog. “It’s all behind-the-scenes work, and while it meant time away from the game, it’ll make it easier for current and future us to develop the game better,” Innersloth said.
The studio has also juggled bringing the game to new platforms — it hit Nintendo Switch in December and is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S consoles in 2021.
There’s a lot to look forward to, though. The airship map, which is scheduled to come out in early 2021, has new tasks to complete as well as ladders and floating platforms for traversal. Innersloth aims to launch the account system “ASAP” with a focus on moderation. And the studio plans to share a public feature roadmap at some point.
Nvidia has updated its Shield TV media streaming box to add support for the Bluetooth enabled PlayStation 5 DualSense and the Xbox Series X|S controllers. These controllers can now be paired with the streaming device through the latter’s Bluetooth settings.
The Shield TV is a media streaming box but it can also play Android games from the Google Play Store. On top of that, the device is compatible with the Nvidia GeForce Now service, which allows you to play games from Nvidia’s cloud service.
The Shield TV devices are compatible with other wireless controllers and Nvidia also sells its own but now if you already have a PS5 or Xbox Series controller around then you don’t need to purchase one separately for the Shield TV. Then again, it’s hard to say how many people will be playing on their Shield TV when they already have a PS5 or Xbox Series console around.
Nvidia added support for Control4 home automation system in this update for the Shield TV, which allows Control4 remote or app to navigate the Shield TV UI. The OS has also been patched with the Android December 2020 security update.
Sure, anyone can play Skyrim on new next-gen consoles, but only one mod will allow you to play 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5. Here are the (surprising) results achieved by modder Wrighton on Sony’s next-gen console.
by Pasquale Fusco published 20 January 2021 , at 15: 01 in the Videogames channel Playstation Bethesda
The fifth installment of the series The Elder Scrolls has been seen in all the sauces: following the debut on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 (2011), Skyrim has also landed on PS4 and Xbox One, not to mention the latest excellent port made for the Nintendo Switch.
Unfortunately – or luckily – Bethesda hasn’t announced a version yet and next-gen of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S , yet someone has managed to improve the performance of the timeless RPG on the new platforms.
Skyrim a 60 fps on PS5 thanks to Wrighton’s mod
Last December Xbox Series X users managed to run The Elder Scrolls V to more than 30 fps . On that occasion an old mod was used (Uncap FPS, by Smudgey 5000) to unlock the frame rate of the game on Microsoft’s next-gen console. The result was surprising: Skyrim was spinning at 20 frames per second, solidly and without the tearing that the mod caused on the less performing platforms – like on Xbox One X, for example.
The same result was achieved on PlayStation 5 , but in this case we are talking about a more recent mod, very similar in operation to the one seen on Xbox. The author of the PS5 mod responds to the name of Wrighton , who also made a practical video-tutorial to guide players through the installation process of “Skyrim @ 20 fps (PS5) “.
By taking advantage of the backward compatibility of PS5 and a copy of Skyrim for PS4, Wrighton succeeded in the same feat as above. To reach the threshold of 60 frames per second it is necessary follow the steps listed in the description of the mod:
Download and activate the mod
Restart the game
Go back to the mod menu and delete / deactivate the mod
Skyrim should run at 60 fps even without the mod
After closing the game, repeat the first three steps to re-enable the 60 fps
As the author himself points out, what makes this mod special is the ability to use it without disabling the Trophies , unlike what happens with other add-ons of this type. The only “hassle” is repeating the above steps every time you start the game.
Wrighton’s mod also works on PS4 and PS4 Pro , but performance improvements vary depending on the model used, of course.

Microsoft’s first exclusive of 2021, The Medium, is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S next week and like all other Microsoft exclusives, it will also be available through Game Pass on day one. With just over a week left to go until release, Blooper Team has unveiled the PC system requirements for the game, broken down for 1080p, 1440p, 4K and ray-tracing.
The Medium is a horror-mystery with a bit of a Stranger Things vibe. Players will switch between the real world and the much more dangerous ‘spirit realm’. Over time, you’ll gain new abilities and unravel the mystery.
Now as for system requirements, each category targets 30 frames per second, which is a tad worrying but hopefully the final game will support higher frame rates. Here are all of the system requirements:
Minimum (1080p/low):
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 5
GPU: GeForce 1650 Super or GTX 1060, or AMD R9 390X

RAM: 16GB
Raytracing Minimum:
CPU: Intel Core i5-9600 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700 X
GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8GB or AMD RX 6800 16GB
RAM: 16GB
Raytracing Recommended:

GPU: GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD RX 6800 XT 16GB
RAM: 16GB
The Medium supports both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 and requires at least 50GB of storage space on PC. In terms of OS support, only Windows 10 64-bit is listed. The Medium comes to PC, Xbox Series consoles and Game Pass on the 28th of January.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning released for PC, Xbox One and PS4 back in 2020, bringing back the cult-classic action RPG in remastered form. This year, Nintendo Switch owners will get a chance to play it.
This week, THQ Nordic confirmed that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on the 16th of March 2021. As you would expect, the package includes the base game and its three DLC expansions – The Teeth of Naros, Legend of Dead Kel and Weapons and Armor bundles.
Interestingly, this isn’t the end for Kingdoms of Amalur either. While we aren’t getting a direct sequel in the immediate future, the remaster will be getting a brand new expansion called ‘Fatesworn’. This new expansion will release later this year for all platforms that Re-Reckoning is available on.
For those who don’t know, Kingdoms of Amalur originally released back in 2012. The project was a collaboration between Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion designer Ken Rolston and best selling author R.A. Salvatore.
KitGuru Says: Did many of you play Kingdoms of Amalur back in the day? Are you thinking about picking up the remaster ahead of the new expansion?

The Medium PC system requirements announced
Microsoft’s first exclusive of 2021, The Medium, is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S …
The next installment of the popular Hitman series will debut on the market tomorrow. On the eve of the premiere, a flood of reviews appeared, according to which the Danish studio IO Interactive on the new adventures of the Agent 47 with a barcode on the back of the head did a great job. At the moment, the game has received the highest ratings not only among all parts of the World of Assassination trilogy, but also the entire series, starting in 2000 of the year of Hitman: Codename 47 and ending with the last game of 2018 year. Hitman 3 is the culmination of this trilogy and, as critics’ opinions suggest, a goodbye. Selected reviewers mention that, with the previous two installments, it is one of the most complete trilogies in the history of games. On the other hand, there are also voices saying that this is more of an addition than a full-fledged installment.
According to reviews, Hitman 3 is one of the best stealth games in recent years. This is so far the highest-rated game in the series of adventures about the Agent 47, which offers .in. even better level designs or greater emphasis on the story than in the last two installments.
Hitman 3 for PlayStation VR in share. IO Interactive studio presents new gameplays from the third part of the Agent trilogy 47
Hitman 3 gets very high ratings. The average rating in the Metacritic and OpenCritic aggregators was at the time of writing 88 and 87% based on over
respectively and 60 Reviews . It is even higher than in the case of Hitman 2: Silent Asasssin, which is considered – next to Blood Money – to be the best part of this stealth series. It may not be possible to maintain such a high average after the premiere, but fans of the series should not be disappointed, especially those who played the game from the last two installments. According to critics, Hitman 3 offers a slightly developed, sandbox formula developed in Hitman from 2016. For fans of the series it will be “more of the same”, but apparently the devil is in the details, and IO Interactive studio has done its homework in this respect.
Hitman 3 – IO Interactive studio has revealed all six locations from the Agent game 47. I have to admit that they are atmospheric
In the third part we get access to six extensive maps with a different climate (the gloomy Dartmoor mansion in England, a skyscraper in Dubai or Chinese streets in Chongqing). Some of them are the best of the entire trilogy. Each mission, except the last one with a more linear structure, can be performed in many different ways, encouraging repetition. Players who missed a greater emphasis on the story will be pleased that it is more extensive in Hitman 3, and the goals and the plot around them have become more intriguing. However, there are not enough changes in the game that would encourage people who do not like this formula to play. And the general content, devoid of, among others online modes, makes Hitman 3 seem to offer less than the previous installments of the trilogy. We will see it 20 January 2021 of the year when the game will be available for sale on PC (temporarily exclusive to Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S consoles (on Nintendo Switch is to work via the cloud) in the English language version (there will not even be Polish subtitles).

Team Ninja has ‘no plans’ for Nioh 3
Over the last few years, Team Ninja has been hard at work on the Nioh …
Over the last few years, Team Ninja has been hard at work on the Nioh series, with two games both going on to earn critical acclaim across PlayStation consoles and PC. Unfortunately for fans of the series, the developers are now moving on, saying that the Nioh story is officially over.
In an interview with VGC this week, Nioh director, Fumihiko Yasuda took a look back at the series, which is wrapping up development with the release of Nioh 2 on PC and PS5: “With Nioh CE and Nioh 2 CE, the story that we had built has come to an end. It’s reached a good point in the story where all the loose ends are tied up, so there are no plans for a sequel at this point.”
While the studio considers Nioh as a finished series for the time being, the door is still open for a return “in the future” but there are no plans for more games at this point in time. Yasuda also confirmed that there are no plans to bring the Nioh games to Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S. However, if Ninja Gaiden were to return, the studio would “definitely like that to be on Xbox consoles”.
Looking towards the future, Team Ninja appears to have interest in an open-world game: “There’s definitely no specific plans to speak of at this time, but Team Ninja as a whole would specifically like to take on the open world genre. But we feel at this point that there haven’t really been open world games with a lot of intensity, which are really action-packed from beginning to end. So we’d like to actually take that on as a potential challenge in the future, and try to put a new spin on the open world genre in that regard.”
KitGuru Says: I really enjoyed Nioh on the PS4 and am looking forward to picking up the sequel on PC at some point. It is a shame that we won’t be seeing a Nioh 3 anytime soon though. Did many of you play the Nioh games? Would you like to see Team Ninja continue it, or would you prefer a new IP?
