AMD Radeon RX 6000 – the manufacturer boasts of card performance
Source: Pure PC added 01st Nov 2020A few days ago, AMD officially presented three graphics cards: Radeon RX 6800, Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6900 XT, based on RDNA 2 architecture and 7nm technological process from TSMC. The manufacturer revealed the first specific information about performance in popular games and comparison to competing NVIDIA Ampere chips. Shortly after the conference, we got to know the full information related to the detailed specification of the NAVI graphics core 20 on which all three announced graphics cards are based. Meanwhile, the manufacturer is still willing to compare the performance of its cards to NVIDIA GeForce RTX systems 3000, as evidenced by the last slides. Unfortunately, it is in vain to look for Ray Tracing tests in them.
AMD has published on its website a number of graphs comparing the performance of the Radeons RX 6000 in selected PC games.
AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT, RX 6800 – the premiere of RDNA 2 cards
AMD presented on its website new results of the performance of Radeon RX graphics cards 6800, Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6900 XT compared to GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090. The following games were used for comparison: Battlefield V, Borderlands 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, The Division 2, DOOM Eternal, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Resident Evil 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Wolfestein: Youngblood. The test platform consisted of an AMD Ryzen 9 processor 5900 X, reference motherboard with X chipset 165 and Smart Memory Access enabled 16 GB DDR4 RAM 3200 MHz, Windows 10 Professional and the latest drivers for NVIDIA and AMD.
Comparisons were made in QHD and 4K resolutions and, interestingly, in all tested AMD Radeon RX games 6800 XT turned out to be slightly more efficient than the top GeForce RTX 3090. In Quad HD resolution, the top RDNA 2 offers less than 8% higher performance compared to the highest-ranked NVIDIA Ampere card. In higher 4K resolution, the cards go head to head, and the Radeon RX 6900 XT fares 3% better on average. Of course, it has been known for a long time that every manufacturer likes to colorize the results by testing new systems in such selected places where they will perform best. Interestingly, the result of the Radeon RX card also got into the network 6000 in the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark. The weakest representative of NAVI 21 obtained in the graphics test 16775 points. For comparison, the rival NVIDIA GeForce RTX card 3000 reaches an average of 18 – 22% worse result, depending on the specific GPU model. It is therefore another test where the Radeon RX 6800 drops really good.

Additionally on one a test of the same card in Shadow of the Tomb Raider has appeared from Chinese sites in Quad HD and 4K resolutions. This time, however, ray tracing was enabled in the game. The test was conducted using the 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 processor 3500 X. Resolution 2560 x 1440, card obtained 80 FPS, while in 4K it was already 46 FPS. Some sources report NVIDIA GeForce RTX . How will the Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT we will find out 19 November, when both GPUs go on sale. Below are also other performance charts from AMD.
