Until recently it was not yet clear what would happen at APS-C mirrorless cameras by Canon. One road pointed towards a new series of products in 2021, while the other towards a divestment ( except some latest models) and then aim for something different. Now it seems that the choice by the manufacturer is now clear.
Canon: APS-C mirrorless coming with RF
These are still indiscretions, but whoever provided them speaks of information with excellent foundations. As reported, in the second half of 2021 we will see a new series of mirrorless cameras with APS-C sensor which will serve to compete for example with Fujifilm X Series and Nikon Z 50 and the like.
The strategy of Canon seems to be to unite the flexibility of the new RF attack to the choice not to create ad hoc objectives for APS-C. This will mean that new optics will debut that will be good for both full-frame and APS-C while reducing development and distribution costs (increasing profits for the Japanese company).
still very little technical information. There will be a sensor with support for the DPAF II while it will aim at compact dimensions allowing to arrive shortly below Canon EOS RP (although it is not known how much). Furthermore, the intentions would be to provide all the necessary options for sports photographers but also for videomakers (then looking in the direction of Fujifilm, for example).
