Just ahead of Christmas last year, one law firm acting on behalf of investors filed a lawsuit against CD Projekt Red, claiming that the company misled investors with statements about Cyberpunk 2077. Now, another law firm is also trying its hand with a very similar lawsuit.

Another lawsuit has been filed in the US District Court of California. CD Projekt Red is already aware of the lawsuit and understands that its claims are the same as the first lawsuit, which was filed back in December. As noted on the CD Projekt Red Investors Relations page, the company will “undertake vigorous action to defend itself” – a statement that was already offered once after the original lawsuit was filed.

Both lawsuits claim that investors were misled in the lead-up to Cyberpunk 2077’s launch. The fact that the game was removed from the PlayStation Store and the fact that mass refunds were offered for console players are key arguments in the case. The game had a much rockier launch than anyone anticipated across all platforms, although the console versions are notably worse than the PC version.

We haven’t seen any counter-filings from CD Projekt Red in either lawsuit yet, but we should hear more on that in the months to come.

KitGuru Says: Mistakes were certainly made during the build up to and launch of Cyberpunk 2077 but whether or not any laws were broken in the process remains to be seen.
