Since 2016, Apple has been investigating the feasibility of inductive charging technology for devices and accessories using MacBook laptops. The company has submitted to the patent office as many as 40 various solutions, but the latest application, which went to the US Patent and Trademark Office, seems to be particularly interesting. According to the documentation describing the solution, a notebook could charge a smartphone, a watch, and possibly other equipment by placing it in the right place on the laptop casing. In theory, the use of the patent promises to be a hit, but one issue raises my reservations as to the real usefulness of this form of charging.

Apple has filed a patent for the use of induction charging of smartphones and watches in computers MacBook portable devices. Does the solution have a chance to hit this year’s devices from the Cupertino giant?

Though Inductive charging of smartphones is not a particularly new technology, only recent years have seen an increase in the popularity of this solution. The ability to supply energy to a mobile device without the use of a cable is primarily a convenience, which also affects the aesthetics of the environment. On the market you will find a large number of various wireless charging mats with different properties and shapes. Certainly, everyone will be able to choose the right solution for them. Apple, in its patent, presents an unusual variation on the theme of “induction”.

By looking at the sketches in the patent documentation, we can easily discover that the charging harnesses would be placed right next to the trackpad. It is this space that would serve this process. This makes sense, but only if the user is not using the trackpad and keyboard. Because on the sides of the touchpad, hands usually rest, with which the text is entered. The trackpad in MacBooks is much more important than in hardware with Microsoft Windows. Thanks to the precision and a number of gestures, most Apple computer users do not feel the need to use an accessory mouse. In order not to be groundless, I would like to say that in the last 4 years I have used mice only a few times.
