In addition to a new MacBook Air and the Mac mini, Apple has its MacBook Pro in the 13 – Customs variant refreshed and switched to its own M1 chip. Apple does not mention any technical differences between the Apple Silicon and the smaller Mac models, but it does hope that the active cooling will provide higher performance. Eight CPU and GPU cores are available. In a generational comparison, the new Apple MacBook Pro is said to have 2.8 times the CPU performance and five times the GPU performance and, above all, should increase the runtimes. Apple speaks of 17 hours of web browsing and up to 20 Hours of video playback.

Contrary to many rumors, however, it remains at a 13, 3 inches large display and the previous design and form factor. A new 16 – inch version was not presented by Apple in the evening during its keynote. The touchbar is also part of the game again, as is the integrated TouchID fingerprint sensor. On the connection side, there are two Thunderbolt or USB 4 ports and a 3.5 mm jack socket for connecting headphones. Other improvements include a revised webcam and integrated microphones, which should be able to filter out ambient noise better. The keyboard problems from the past should no longer exist thanks to the illuminated Magic keyboard – Apple had already introduced them with the last refresh.

The new MacBook Pro with 13 Customs and Apple’s own M1 chip can already be pre-ordered from today and should be between the 17. and 19. November will be shipped. The basic model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 – GB SSD costs 1 with sales tax reduction. 412, 45 Euro, the variant with double SSD expansion, however, 1. 636, 65 Euro. The doubling of the working memory to the maximum possible 13 GB of the M1 chip – the DRAM is integrated directly in the SoC – beats with around 225 euros to book.

There are further upgrades for the SSD and the software. For the full equipment without additional software, just over 2 500 euros are announced. The versions with an Intel processor will continue to be available for the inch MacBook Pro from around 2. 075 give euros.
