The Canon EOS R system is young enough, but it already has its cinquantino . We are not talking about a rigged Fifty, but the new lens Canon RF 50 mm F1.8 STM , which collects the legacy of his brother EF in a mirrorless context 50 mm f / 1.8, inevitable companion in the bag of reflex photographers of all backgrounds. New generation glass for the new version, which means (also given the reduced draft of the camera bodies) more compact dimensions and a reduced minimum focusing distance of 5 centimeters, which therefore puts subjects in focus starting from 0.3 meters. As in the latest EF version, the lens offers 7-blade circular diaphragm.
Canon RF 70 – 200 mm F4L IS USM: the great classic now for full frame mirrorless
In addition to 50 mm, Canon today also presents another great classic, a lens that is among the most popular in reflex format and that is declined for the without mirror in the new Canon RF 70 – 200 mm F4L IS USM . In this incarnation the 70 – 200 mm F4 has focused heavily on compact weights and dimensions: Canon RF 70 – 200 mm F4L IS USM weighs only 695 grams and is long 11, 9 cm , data not too far from the ‘old’ non-stabilized version of Canon’s EF L series zoom.
The stabilizer is credited with 5 stops on safety times, which can go up to 7.5 stops when used in conjunction with recent Canon R5 and R6 full frame mirrorless bodies, equipped IBIS stabilization on the sensor. For fast and precise focusing, Canon has integrated a Dual Nano USM motor, which also stands out for its quiet operation and makes the lens a good choice for video shooting as well.
The optics uses UD elements in the optical design and ASC coatings and of course offers the additional control ring typical of the new RF lenses for mirrorless, which allows you to have an extra command on the lens barrel, for example to assign to ISO or compensation
RF 50 mm F1.8 STM and RF 70 – 200 mm F4L IS USM will be available from December 2020 respectively at suggested retail price 239, 99 ?? and 1. 889, 99 ?? . Someone will turn up their noses for the price of the fifty, which was once the super-entry-level optics in the reflex field, but the price is in line with current market trends.
