At the consumer electronics fair CES 2021, Acer has announced a range of new gaming monitors, including two models with specifications that are rare if not unique. The 28 – Zöller Nitro XV 282 K KV combines an Ultra HD resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels) with up to 120 Hertz and an HDMI 2.1 connection. IPS technology is used.

HDMI 2.1 is fast enough to use the monitor without compression with Ultra HD and 144 To be able to operate Hertz – the previously widespread DisplayPort standard 1.4 cannot. In theory, it is also sufficient for HDR content and bit representation per color channel, however, the Nitro XV 282 K KV with VESA DisplayHDR 400 may only be suitable to a limited extent for an increased dynamic range.

Meanwhile, gamers are offered Adaptive-Sync, i.e. AMD FreeSync with dynamic frame rates. Acer does not mention Nvidia certification for G-Sync Compatible in the announcement, but the function can always be set unofficially in the driver. On the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X game consoles, the monitor can be operated with Ultra HD and 120 Hertz. With G-Sync, but without HDMI 2.1, Acer has the 32 inch Predator XB 323 QK NV with Ultra HD resolution and 144 Hertz announced.

Flottest WQHD monitor The 27 – Zöller Predator XB 273 U NX sacrifices pixels in favor of the refresh rate: The display shows 2560 × 1440 pixels (WQHD), but comes up to 275 Hertz. This makes it even faster than the previous 240 Hertz WQHD monitors on the market. Acer relies on an IPS panel with a nominal response time of 0.5 milliseconds (GtG) – such low values usually apply with an aggressive overdrive setting.

Nvidia’s G-Sync module with DisplayPort is internal 1.4 installed. Accordingly, GeForce graphics cards can dynamically specify the refresh rate of the monitor using G-Sync. Nvidia’s reflex to measure and reduce the input delay is also included.

Meanwhile, gamers have to dig deep into their pockets for the monitors: The Nitro XV 282 K KV should from May 2021 for 950 Euro, the Predator XB 273 U NX will also be available from May 2021 for 950 euros. The Predator XB 323 QK NV costs 1200 Euro.
