A few days ago we mentioned that a company calling itself PlateStation 5 had begun to market the first custom covers for the PlayStation 5 , the new Sony console, something that has led to legal action against this manufacturer covers for the company’s next-generation console.
First, Sony threatened to take legal action against PlateStation 5 due to a trademark infringement, something that made some sense considering the extreme similarity of both names. Anyway, after this, the page was renamed “Customize My Plates”, and if we enter the store, we can see that it is still running.
However, we will see that the personalized caps have disappeared from the store , and as we read in Videogames Chronicle, Sony’s lawyers informed the company that, in their opinion, The console covers were also part of Sony’s intellectual property , so if they continued to sell them, this issue would end in court.
Anyway, this has been solved in a more or less calm way, with Customize My Plates canceling all orders for personalized covers and changing their business model to vinyl to stick on the original covers , so that while this could be Sony’s way of defending its brand, too could mean that Sony is developing ndo their own covers for the Playstation 5 and they don’t want any kind of competition in this field.
