With the obvious defects highlighted by the critics, and by the public itself, Cyberpunk 2077 is still in the eye of the storm: there are thousands of users who have already requested a refund, disappointed by the quality level offered by the game, especially on consoles. Sony itself intervened by removing the title of CD Projekt RED from its PlayStation Store.
Like the large owners of digital marketplaces, retail resellers have also been overwhelmed by hundreds of requests, which in the specific case of Gamestop were initially rejected. According to the latest news, the US chain has just changed its mind.
Gamestop will refund you: Cyberpunk labeled “Faulty”
According to an internal communication from Gamestop USA, leaked online via a report from Kotaku, Gamestop employees are now authorized to accept refund requests relating to Cyberpunk 2077, in its versions PlayStation 4 and Xbox One .
The instructions seem pretty clear: the customer’s request will be accepted even if the game package has already been opened. Before returning it to the warehouse, the disc returned to the store must be labeled as “Defective “ .

Curiously, Gamestop’s official policy does not include this kind of approach. The return of a game purchased in the store is only allowed for products that are still sealed. Cyberpunk’s 2077 can therefore be considered a ‘ exception , which however does not escape the usual obligation to return the disc within 30 days from purchase.
In response to resellers who, like Gamestop, had initially declined refund requests, CD Projekt RED has declared ready to repay personally the owners of the physical copy – who must contact the developer himself via email.
