According to the Netmarketshare website, Windows 7 had a market share of just under 20% for desktop PCs or notebooks. Microsoft’s current operating system Windows 10 In contrast, came in December 2020 to a share of 63, 57%.
Only enterprise customers who take part in the Extended Security Updates program are currently still being supplied with corresponding updates for Windows 7. However, the figures determined by Netmarketshare show that various private users are currently still using the outdated Microsoft operating system without the corresponding security updates. As a result, the computers move largely unprotected on the Internet. The numerous weak points cannot be closed even by using a virus scanner or other security software. At the moment, it can be assumed that the majority of users will only choose to upgrade to Windows if the hardware fails 10 will decide.
The published figures also show that Microsoft continues to market dominates. With 4, 65%, Apple’s Mac OS X is in third place in the version 10. 15, closely followed by Windows 8.1 with 2, 31%. With 1, 34% Linux ranks fifth. But even Apple users do not always seem to be using the latest version of the Mac OS operating system. Only 0, 68% are currently using Apple’s Big Sur.
Furthermore, Windows XP will also be available in December despite the official end of support in April 2014 2020 from 0, 64% of users used. However, this should become less and less, because sooner or later the right hardware will bless the temporal.
