DiRT 5 , together with Gears 5 , is one of the games that support the 120 Hz on Xbox Series X since the launch of the console. If in the case of Gears 5 the support is limited to the Versus multiplayer mode, in DiRT 5 we have the 120 Hz always, both in single player and multiplayer. There are three visual quality modes: image quality, frame rate, high frame rate Hz. In the latter case, the graphics engine slightly scales the visual quality to raise the frame rate.

DiRT 5 is a launch title of Xbox Series X, and takes advantage of its main features . Such as the Ray Tracing and the Xbox Velocity Architecture , thus benefiting from the presence of the SSD in the console. Even more important is the support for Smart Delivery : in other words, by purchasing the Xbox One version of the game it will also be possible to play it on the new Series X, enjoying all the optimizations of this version.

Obviously, in a driving game the high refresh rate is very important, because it facilitates guides and preserves the integrity of the gaming experience. It decreases latencies, and this is also very important in the competitive multiplayer context. Gears 5 played at 30 / 40 milliseconds of latency is different than 80 / 90 ms of the previous generation. A first time for the world of consoles which has very interesting repercussions (as we have already seen here).

While on Xbox Series X i 120 Hz are automatically enabled in the presence of the correct connection to the monitor or TV, for PlayStation 5 is the game that controls the refresh rate: the dashboard, therefore, remains at 60 Hz, passing to 120 Hz only when starting game with support.
