Just two years after the launch, Nikon announced a new generation of its Z 6 and Z 7 full-frame mirrorless cameras. The manufacturer has only further developed the cameras in a few areas. So it remains with the known sensor resolutions of 24 (Z 6) or 45 Megapixels (Z 7). According to its own statement, Nikon has orientated itself with the facelift to the needs and criticisms of the users.

The two new cameras have two card slots: One each for XQD / CFexpress and SD cards (UHS-II)

In the case of Z 6 II and Z7 II this means a higher serial frame rate (Z 6 II: 14 B / s, Z 7 II: 10 B / s), a more accurate and faster autofocus with higher light sensitivity (Z 6 II: -4.5 EV, Z 7 II: -3 EV) and improved video functions. As an additional auto focus function, the cameras now offer a Wide L mode that can be used, for example, as a search area for faces. Eye and face AF for humans and animals will work in both video and photo mode in the future. The new cameras can record videos with an extended dynamic range (HLG) if required, 4K videos end up on the memory card with 60 frames per second (internal Output in 8-bit).

This is achieved with the combination of two Expeed-6 image processors. In addition to higher computing power, the cameras also have a buffer memory that is more than twice as large. The Z 6 II can now 124 record raw recordings in one piece (Z 6: 35) and keeps its continuous shooting speed of nine seconds, about three times as long as the previous model.
