GoPro announces new firmware for action cameras
As reported by the manufacturer, this new firmware update is compatible with HERO9 Black, HERO8 Black, HERO7 Black and GoPro MAX. Therefore, older models not present in the list are excluded. But what are the news for users who want to update?
- Start shooting based on motion detection. It relies on the accelerometer and / or gyroscope to start or stop shooting. This allows you to reduce consumption and not use the storage space for unimportant scenes.
- Start shooting with USB power. Shooting starts or stops when USB power is detected (useful when used as a dash cam).
- Motion detection is supported in all video modes. This also means in the one at 360 ° on MAX. Sensitivity has also been improved.
- Possibility of start live streaming in seconds after connecting to a user specified Wi-Fi network.
- New single button mode where user can only start or stop acquisition. Allows you to avoid changing settings by mistake.
- Possibility to set a lock on the exposure time and minimum shutter speed.
- QR code based controls support 5K and HindSight capture on HERO9 Black.
The novelties have been added to those already present previously such as the control via QR code (further expanded with update), motion detection, activation timers, saving of favorite settings, camera customization. Some of these innovations are integrated into the firmware of GoPro HERO9 Black released at the end of 2020.
