HP Elite x2 G8: Windows tablet with 3: 2 touchscreen, stylus and practical keyboard
Source: Hardware Luxx added 11th Jan 2021With the Elite x2 G8, HP is presenting a Windows tablet in 3: 2 format with a stylus and practical keyboard at the CES 2021. The tablet optionally uses a 13 “display with a resolution of 1. 920 x 1. 080 pixels or a resolution of 3. 000 x 2. 000 pixels. In addition, buyers can choose between two displays with a brightness of up to 400 cd / m² or a SureView display with a maximum brightness of up to 1. 000 cd / m². The display cannot be seen from the side, which increases privacy in public places. Gorilla Glass 5 is supposed to protect the screen reliably against scratches and damage.
The dimensions of the Elite x2 G8 are 28, 96 cm x 21, 59 cm, whereby the device is only 8.8 mm thin. The tablet can either be used alone as a Windows tablet, or in combination with the supplied keyboard and the integrated stand as a complete notebook Replacement can be used n direct competitors to the Microsoft Surface models on the market. Similar to Microsoft, the stylus also has to be purchased here.
Inside, an unspecified Intel Tiger Lake SoC works with optional support for vPro. This is supported by either 8 GB or 16 GB LPDDR4X memory and an M.2 NVMe SSD with up to 2 TB storage space. The battery has a capacity of 47 Wh and can be charged within half an hour. How long a charge lasts is not yet known.
Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB-C port and a headphone connection are available. For wireless connections, the Elite x3 G8 offers Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5 and an optional LTE modem. As with the Elite Folio, HP relies on loudspeakers from Bang & Olufsen, which should achieve a volume of 74 dB.
The HP Elite x2 G8 is expected to be available from April 2021. Nothing has been announced about the prices yet.
