?? The new Leica M 10 – P Reporter is a new limited edition of the full-frame mirrorless camera that will be officially launched in January 2021 as a tribute to the Leica Oskar Barnack Award dedicated to photojournalist.??

We know that the German brand has a long tradition of limited edition cameras. The new Leica M 10 – P Reporter is no exception by focusing on a design with dark tones and which is a tribute to the Leica Oskar Barnack Award.

Leica M 10 – P Reporter with kevlar cover

As reported by the company on its website, Leica M 10 – P Reporter will go on sale in limited edition of 450 units globally starting in January 2021. But what are its peculiarities compared to the other versions?

The technical base (excellent) is obviously the same as the M 10 – P “standard” . We find a new color scheme that provides an area in military green with the central band that has a cover in kevlar .

The choice would be due to what happened to Gabriele Micalizzi in Syria early last year. The photojournalist was “protected” by his Leica (model SL and not M 10) while it was within walking distance of the ‘explosion of an RPG rocket that threw debris into the air affecting some military personnel.

As written by the manufacturer, this model is “an uncompromising report camera suitable for even the toughest environments” . And therefore the reference to what happened to Micalizzi and other reporters working in complicated areas may not be just a guess.

Remember that Leica M 10 – P is based on a full-frame sensor from 24 MPixel . Obviously, the distinctive rangefinder system of this brand and its models could not be missing, also mounting a silent shutter so as to be able to shoot without distracting the subject. Inside we find a Maestro-II processor capable of processing images, sensitivity from ISO 100 to 50 thousand and a 2GB buffer. The official price of the standard model is 7690 euro, while Leica M 10 – P Reporter will certainly be more expensive at launch.
