Due to the upcoming release of the PlayStation 5, Sony has now released a new PS4 app called “PS5 Remote Play”. This makes it possible to connect to a PS5 and then use games on the PlayStation 4 via remote play. This means that PS5 exclusive titles can now also be played on the previous console via detours. Of course, you have to cut back on the graphical representation here. There is also a lack of haptic and acoustic feedback from the new controller. According to the manufacturer, up to four users can use the new feature at the same time. Thus, the PS4 should not be put on the siding too early.

To activate remote play, an adjustment in the system settings of the PlayStation 5 is sufficient. Then the desired resolution of the stream can be selected. Here you have the choice between 540 p, 720 p or 1080 p. By default, a resolution of 720 p is selected. It is not known whether 4K will be available in the future.

It also remains to be seen whether Sony will offer its own streaming service of exclusive PlayStation 5 titles. Due to the current availability of the next-gen console, it would be possible for gamers to purchase such a title digitally in the PlayStation store and play it before receiving the next-gen console.

However, this would mean that Sony expects the PlayStation 5 to be poorly available for a longer period of time. As a result, the sales of the exclusive titles would be worse. Especially with titles that can only be played exclusively on the new Sony console for a certain period of time. Here it is particularly important that sufficient consoles are available promptly. Otherwise, gamers could turn to other platforms in order not to have to wait any longer.
