The fact that Nvidia plans to issue a card that is to be a direct competitor of the recently announced Radeon RX 6900 XT , we’ve known for weeks. Recently, there have been rumors about the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti specification, but we have received mixed information. According to one, it was supposed to be 12 GB of memory and fewer CUDA cores than in GeForce RTX 3090 while keeping the same data bus and another suggested 20 GB VRAM with a narrower bus. Reports from the Chinese website HKEPC Hardware, the source of which is a Taiwanese PCB manufacturer, coincide with leaks from the well-known kopite7kimi insider. In addition to the specifications, we also learned the first information about the expected release date and the price of the suggested Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics card 3080 Ti.

According to the Chinese website HKEPC, the Nvidia GeForce RTX card 3080 Ti, which is to have 10496 CUDA cores and 20 GB GDDR6X memory (320 – bit), will go on sale in January 2021 for the price of 999 dollars. It is supposed to be a direct rival of the Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Announcement of AMD Radeon RX graphics cards 6000 forced Nvidia to change its plans. The flagship Radeon RX 6900 XT (320 dollars) competes with the much more expensive GeForce RTX 3090 (1499 dol.). Therefore, the Greens must issue a card with similar performance at a price comparable to the strongest competitive hand. According to GeForce RTX source 3080 Ti, based on GA graphics chip 102 – 250 – KD-A1 with a PCB marked PG 133 – SKU 15, will be able to boast 10496 CUDA cores, which is the same number as in GeForce RTX 3090.

The new card would be equipped with 20 GB GDDR6X memory on 320 – bit data bus. TGP would remain at GeForce RTX 3080 (320 W), and the card would be deprived of the NVLink connector, which only the top RTX offers 3090. Due to the big problems with the availability of GeForce RTX cards 3000, no one expected an imminent premiere. According to unconfirmed reports, it is to take place in January 2021, and the price will be as high as in the case of the Radeon RX 6900 XT, i.e. 999 dollars (which will probably translate into an amount close to 5000 PLN). So there is no question of any surprise, because thanks to GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Nvidia will be able to compete with the flagship AMD GPU also in terms of price and amount of VRAM (20 GB vs 16 GB).
