NVIDIA has given its popular Android streaming box NVIDIA Shield TV an update, which brings some interesting features, especially for users of the next-gen consoles. In the new version 8.2.2, the controllers for the Xbox Series X / S and Playstation 5 are now also available. Users of the streaming box can now use both the DualSense controller for the Playstation 5 and the controller for the Xbox Series X / S to navigate in the interface of the box and to access the range of games. So far, users had to use an original NVIDIA controller or one of the few other compatible controllers from earlier console generations.

To connect the controller to the box, the Bluetooth Pairing mode of the box and the corresponding controller must be activated. With the Shield TV Box this works via the menu, with the controllers the usual procedure applies, which is also carried out when connecting to the corresponding console.

In addition to support for the new next-gen controllers, the update also brings support for Control4. Furthermore, some apps have been updated and a few new ones have been added. NVIDIA’s game streaming service GeForce NOW has now also been expanded to include current titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Among Us and Watch Dogs: Legion expanded. The update also contains minor bug fixes and an Android security patch from December 2020.
