The first weeks of 2021 will bring to debut a new smartphone from the OnePlus range? It would seem so, according to the rumors that emerged from Android Central that talks about the debut of OnePlus 9 Lite to complete the new range of the Asian company together with OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro.

In this model, however, we will find a SoC already on the market, and not the latest top model announced by Qualcomm in early December for its Snapdragon SoC family. We therefore refer to Snapdragon 865 , top of the range SoC for the year 2020, and not the new Snapdragon 888 which will pilot the highest-end Android smartphones expected to debut during the 2021.

OnePlus 9 Lite will then go alongside the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro models , for which the use of the Snapdragon SoC is envisaged 888. With this 3-product segmentation, used for the first time in a new product family proposed by OnePlus, the Asian company aims to better offer its solutions to the market by responding to the needs of a large number of customers.

It is conceivable that OnePlus 9 Lite can share many of the technical features of the OnePlus 8T model , based on the same SoC . We can expect AMOLED screen with refrsh rate of 90 Hz or 120 Hz, a fast battery charging system from well 65 Watt and a photographic compartment in fact mirror.

In this way OnePlus could better differentiate the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro models by offering an update to the photo sensor lock , making the most of the potential of the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC 888 and justifying the higher cost than expected for OnePlus 9 Lite.

We will know more during the first quarter 2021, period in which the company should present its new full range.
