PlayStation 5: It looks like the graphics memory has a heat problem

A YouTube video from Gamers Nexus now shows that the GDDR6 memory of the new PlayStation 5 is apparently getting very warm. As the YouTuber test showed, the memory of the next-gen console already reaches room temperatures of around 23 ° C an operating temperature of 93, 3 ° C. So this should cause problems especially in summer. Officially, the maximum temperature according to the manufacturer Micron is 100 ° C. Removing the console’s side panel did not provide relaxation either. According to Gamer Nexus, even then the temperature is 55, 6 ° C.
If the PlayStation 5 gets too warm, this would result in either the performance being throttled or the whole system crashing due to overheating. Excessive performance can also have a negative impact on the life of the PS5.
Whether Sony will improve the software here in the future remains to be seen. It will also show whether dust deposits inside the housing will aggravate the situation. The cooling performance of a new console should be much better than a device that has been in operation for several months.
An official statement from Sony is pending. The first reports of graphic errors are already appearing on various social media platforms. Sometimes this is a matter of individual glitches in the display, up to a total failure. The gamers affected also report that these errors occur regularly and that it is not a short-term phenomenon. The problems cannot be traced back to a single game either, but occur across the board with various titles.
The user Fiona Lhx reports, for example, graphic errors in Witcher 3 and FIFA 21. The user Scoot Ries even experienced display problems on the home screen when installing Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
