PS5 & Xbox Series: Rockstar Games comments on backward compatibility

With Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series, the next-gen consoles are already in the starting blocks. It starts officially on 19. or on 10. November 2020. So for many gamers the question arises as to which games from the previous consoles can also be played on the new generation. Now the games company Rockstar Games has spoken out and announced that both Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 can be played on the upcoming next-gen consoles. This also applies to the latest versions of LA Noire (including the PlayStation VR version LA Noire: The VR Case Files) as well as a number of classic rock star titles.
Whoever has a disc Version, you can use it easily with the new consoles. Provided, of course, that it is the disc version of the PS5 or Xbox Series. Digital version owners can download any compatible Rockstar Games game that is already linked to their PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account. On PlayStation 5, these titles are available in the Your Collection section in the Library. On the Xbox Series X and S you can find these games in the section “Ready to Install”.
In addition, save states and full games can be saved via a network connection or via USB -Memory to be transferred. The latest cloud game status linked to the PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live account can also be transferred. The prerequisite for this is that the cloud games have been activated in advance on the previous console.
In addition, the following Rockstar titles are compatible with the new Microsoft Xbox Series, which were originally for the Xbox 360 or the first Xbox were released:
- Bully : The lap of honor
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
- Midnight Club: Los Angeles
- Red Dead Redemption
- Rockstar Games presents table tennis
Games for Sony’s PlayStation 2 that are currently available for the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Store can also be transferred. These include the following:
- Canis Canem Edit
- Grand Theft Auto III
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
