Samsung Exynos 2100 at CES 2021 – competition for the Snapdragon 888?
Source: Hardware Luxx added 21st Dec 2020Samsung recently published a teaser for its flagship SoC Exynos, which is expected at CES 2021 2100. The new processor will be used for the first time in the upcoming Galaxy S 21 series. This is especially interesting because the Snapdragon 888 from Qulacomm, depending on the region, in the Galaxy S 21 will be installed. Last year the Exynos 21 lost to the competition from Qualcomm, especially when it comes to gaming, the performance of the SoC was far below expectations. However, Samsung seems to have better cards next year. The information from the leaks about the European Galaxy S Ultra give up hope for a fight Eye level between the two chip manufacturers.

Samsung apparently no longer relies on the in-house Mongoose Cores, but will likely like competitor Qualcomm on a combination of a Cortex X1 high-performance core with up to 2, 91 GHz as well as three Cortex-A 78 – and four Cortex-A 55 – Cores with up to 2, 78, or 2, 21 GHz. The production should also take place in the 5 nm process. This should also reduce the performance and efficiency difference between the Exynos 2100 and the Snapdragon 888 are not as serious as their predecessors. At the moment it is still unclear whether the Samsung Exynos 2100 also has special features, such as triple ISP to offer.
Buyers of the Galaxy S are expected to benefit from Samsung’s upcoming flagship processor the regions around India and Europe. As in previous years, the version of the smartphone for the USA, China and South Korea will probably have a processor from Qualcomm, i.e. the Snapdragon 888 are used.
