The size of the PlayStation 5 is due to its cooling system

Something that takes time from word of mouth is the huge size of the PlayStation 5 , and it is no wonder if we consider that the PS5 is the largest console made by Sony in history. However, everything seems to be for a good cause, and as we can read in Nikkei XTech, there were different considerations that led to it.
On the one hand, the configuration of the console in terms of hardware, frequencies and other parameters were already decided ago two years , as well as preparations for using liquid metal in the die of the processor. However, the size of the console depended directly on the cooling system, especially the fan.
As mentioned , avoiding the use of liquid metal would have led to an even larger fan , increasing the size of the console, so that if it already seems large to us today, there was the potential for it to be even larger.
Anyway , there is also the possibility of having used a smaller fan , or a couple of them, something that the console would have done smaller, but which, as they admit, would also have made it more difficult to control that the cooling was sufficient on both sides of the console, increasing the manufacturing costs of the PlayStation 5
