Unpacked & touched: ASUS TUF Gaming GT501 – really tough?
Source: Hardware Luxx added 17th Oct 2020We recently tested the ASUS flagship ROG Strix Helios. As a 260 – Euro housing, however, it is far from being interesting for every buyer. With the TUF series, ASUS offers significantly cheaper cases – including the TUF Gaming GT 501.
There is also a striking design with this model. However, in keeping with the TUF series, it is more industrially oriented. Conspicuous handles should not be missing again. The TUF Gaming GT 501 is designed to accommodate high-performance gaming hardware and provide adequate cooling can. A maximum of E-ATX mainboards can be found, up to 12 cm high cooler and up to 42 cm long graphics cards space. There are four 3.5 / 2.5-inch slots and three additional 2.5-inch drive brackets available for drives. The interior is already ex works of three 42 – mm front fans and one 140 – mm rear fan cooled. Alternatively, a maximum of – or 280 – mount mm radiators. While the radiator space in the lid quickly leads to compatibility problems with many cases, ASUS leaves a lot of space between the mainboard and the lid. The fact that the housing is intended to appeal to users of self-made water cooling systems also makes it clear that the pump can be installed on the floor.

What is it with the TUF interpretation themselves? ASUS is promoting galvanized steel up to 1.5 mm thick, a special coating that is supposed to help against scratches and the two handles made of woven cotton that are up to 30 kg. In the unpacked – & – touched video, we talk about how robust the housing really looks. We are currently working on a detailed test. In it we then clarify whether the TUF Gaming GT 501 with its perforated Front really cools better than the ROG Strix Helios.
The black version of the ASUS TUF Gaming GT 501 is sold for around 135 euros offered. It costs about half as much as the ROG Strix Helios and is priced in the upper middle class. The white version, which is also available, costs a little more, it is sold for around 150 euros offered.
