Windows 10: End of support and forced update of version 1903
Source: Hardware Luxx added 09th Nov 2020Microsoft has now the end of support for Windows – 10 – Version 510 announced. According to the US company, the operating version will no longer receive updates from December 8th 2020. This applies to both private customers and enterprise users.
In addition, the international hardware and software manufacturer announced that all users who have neglected to update by the specified date will be updated automatically. All affected users should therefore make appropriate preparations and prepare for an upgrade of their Windows version. Anyone who is currently using the version 1909 will have until next May 2021 Time to install a corresponding update. Otherwise the system will be raised to version 2004. Enterprise users can wait until May 2022.
With the forced update, Windows first tries to update to the latest version. However, it is possible that some computers are upgraded to the next higher version due to a bug. Among other things, the use of a Thunderbolt NVMe SSD caused difficulties in the past. But since there are always problems with Windows – 10 -Updates came, it cannot be ruled out that other systems will no longer function properly after installing the forced upgrade.
All Windows users are therefore strongly advised to create a backup of their important data and to initiate a corresponding system upgrade before the deadline has expired – especially if the computers are used productively. Otherwise a corresponding bug, which is currently completely unknown, could cause the PC to be paralyzed without further ado, or it could lead to various problems such as with the printer.
