Coming to Windows 10 a new graphical interface completely revised in many of the components, even the key ones such as Start Menu, Action Center and application bar

Microsoft Windows

Microsoft update his Windows 10 twice a year, sometimes even with a slight graphic revision that tends to make the user experience of the operating system more consistent or between its various parts. The new operating system that gave rise to the concept of Windows as a service is still 5 years old and, although many parts have been revised in design, in fact the user interface of the operating system and its graphic aspect have not changed much.

Just for Microsoft’s new approach would make no sense to expect a major revolution in terms of design, however Windows Central’s Zac Bowden said we could see a graphics revolution as early as next year on Windows 10 . The project is already in place and has the internal codename of Sun Valley , with the entire interface operating system user that will be updated. Key components of the operating system will also be restyled.

According to Bowden, the changes will be added to Windows 10 21 H2 , then the update that will arrive in the second half of next year, and provide for a new Start Menu , a new Action Center (the sidebar with notifications and quick commands), an improved taskbar , and so on. The new UI Sun Valley could be similar to what we have already seen with Windows 10 X, although with various differences in terms of use.

Probably Microsoft will not want to repeat the error made with Windows RT and Windows 8, two operating systems very similar in appearance but different in intent. Sun Valley and Windows 10 X may share the graphics of some elements, but it is likely that the first will be designed for notebooks and desktops, the second for dual-screen devices of various types. In Bowden’s report, however, the details are not specified and at the moment we can only speculate on the subject.

The Windows Central reporter only writes that the UI will be revolutionized, and probably is not aware of the details. The new UI should arrive on Cobalt, therefore – as we have already written – with the update expected in the second half of 2021. Previews of that version should be coming up in the branch fe_release , so we may soon start getting a first taste of this “revolution”. The first news could be previewed already by the end of 2020, when the Dev channel will return to propose the branch builds rs_prerelease.
