Microsoft Windows
For several years the users of Windows PC can configure a multitude of aspects of their system through the Control Panel , however the historical screen of the operating system must leave room for the most modern Settings . It is a path that has already begun some time ago: from the Windows Start Menu 10, in fact, the user can only access the Settings, with the Control Panel which can still be run “by hand” or only for some options.
With the new version of Windows 10, however, the reverse is happening. Whoever tries to access some screens from the Control Panel is immediately directed to the Settings , then to the modern version of screen. It is almost a setback for the old users, the historical ones of the Windows platform, who have always declared themselves opposed to the change of style, preferring the more functional approach than the old fashioned way.
One of the pages that was deleted on the Windows Control Panel 10 October 2020 Update (20 H2) è System : clicking on the option in fact you are taken without being able to do much in the Windows Settings 10. It also seems that there is no workaround , no system to force the opening of the deleted screens through the Panel control. Furthermore, according to Windows Latest, Microsoft is blocking links to properties and third-party apps that could be used to circumvent the obligation introduced with Windows 10 20 H2.
It is very likely that Microsoft’s choice will leave many historical users of the Windows platform with a bad taste in their mouths, however, the company also has its reasons. Windows Settings 10 are made following the evolution of the market and Microsoft tends to offer a single operating system on all IT systems in circulation, which is coherent between its graphic elements and at the same time functional. The Settings are in fact comfortable to use with both touch and mouse input, and over time the available options have increased significantly.
It is understandable that Microsoft wants a more user-friendly for the future of Windows 10 and there is no point in keeping the old UI with a double UI. The Control Panel is an old approach that Microsoft wants to do away with altogether in favor of the new. And, apparently, it does not want to give users any choice.
