Lenovo Legion 7, Legion 5 Pro and Legion Slim 7 – gaming laptops with AMD Cezanne-H and GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 cards
Source: Pure PC added 12th Jan 2021CES has started 2021, which this year stand, among others under the sign of the premiere of new notebooks based on AMD Cezanne and Intel Tiger Lake-H processors 35 and, most importantly, NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards 3000. OEM partners are starting their demonstrations of new products that will be available for sale in the coming weeks. One of the first companies to introduce its latest gaming notebooks is Lenovo. The manufacturer offers the Legion line in its portfolio, which looks better and better every year. So far, Intel processors dominated the most efficient laptops in this series. This year, however, there is an unprecedented situation where all three upcoming notebooks will use AMD Cezanne-H processors. However, this is not the only change in Legions.
During the CES fair 2021, Lenovo has unveiled three new Legion laptops: Legion 7, Legion 5 Pro and Legion 5. All laptops use AMD Cezanne-H processors, NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards 3000 and proportion matrices 16: 10 and NVIDIA G-SYNC support.
Recently, Lenovo Legion laptops look really good, especially if we look at the overall design. Notebooks offer a simple, even minimalist design. This year’s Legion 7, Legion 5 Pro and Legion 7 Slim models continue this trend. The flagship Legion 7 looks best, almost entirely made of aluminum, and the slender Legion Slim 7, also offering an aluminum housing. The biggest change from the previous generation will be the use of AMD processors instead of Intel and this applies to all Legion models on 2021 year. We expect to use AMD Ryzen 5 5600 H, AMD Ryzen 7 5800 H and possibly also Ryzen 9 5900 H – the producer at the press conference for the media, unfortunately, did not go into the details of the Cezanne-H units used.
Lenovo Legion 7 is the most efficient model that will run full NVIDIA GeForce RTX chipsets, not Max-Q Design editions. This is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, GeForce RTX 3070 and GeForce RTX 3080. The set includes a slim type power supply with the power 300 W. Laptop can be equipped with up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM 3200 MHz (Dual Channel, 2x SO- DIMM). There is also an M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD with a capacity of up to 2 TB. The matrices used are another big novelty. It will not be a low shelf. Instead, Lenovo will offer high-quality 16 – inch IPS panels with resolution 2560 x 1600 pixels, aspect ratio 16: 10, Refresh 165 Hz, brightness up to 500 rivets 100% sRGB color coverage and Dolby Vision support. The matrix will also have an NVIDIA G-SYNC module. The keyboard will be prepared again in cooperation with Corsair and we do not have to worry about its quality, the previous models were very good in this respect. The device weighs 2.5 kg.

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is a slightly lower shelf with a slightly different design – here on the outer cover we find the characteristic symbol of the Legion brand, i.e. the letter Y, illuminated in white. The laptop is based on AMD Cezanne-H processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards 3000, most likely on Max-Q Design versions (the included power supply has the power of 230 W). Laptop offers up to 16 GB RAM DDR4 3200 MHz in two SO-DIMM slots. It is therefore not a very thrilling amount, especially in the context of long-term use of the equipment. There is also a PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD with a capacity of up to 2 TB. On a big plus, however, the use of the same, very good quality IPS matrix 2560 x 1600 with proportions 16: 10, Refresh 165 Hz, brightness up to 500 nits and support for Dolby Vision and NVIDIA G-SYNC. The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Laptop will be available in Gray and White.
Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is by far the slimmest design, being a new version of last year’s model. The weight of the device is only 1.9 kg. As previously described laptops, the Legion Slim 7 will also be available with AMD Ryzen series processors 5000 and NVIDIA cards GeForce RTX 3000 on Max-Q Design editions. The included power supply has a power of 230 W. In Unlike Legion 7 and Legion 5 Pro, in Legion Slim 7 we get a classic matrix 16: 9 with Full HD resolution. On the plus side, high refresh rate 165 Hz, 100% sRGB color coverage, luminance at least 300 nits and support for Dolby Vision. The laptop will be offered in two versions: with white keyboard backlight and RGB backlight, prepared in cooperation with Corsair (iCUE RGB). The laptop itself will be available in two color versions: gray and black. The exact date of the debut in stores and prices have not been disclosed at the pre-premiere conference.
