Many PlayStation exclusives get updated release windows
Source: KitGuru added 14th Jan 2021CES 2021 is currently underway, and while the video games industry tends to stay away from the consumer electronics show, Sony often makes its presence known in order to showcase its many other products. Despite this, some PlayStation news did in fact come out of the show, as b-roll footage for its new range of TVs included information regarding the release windows for many of the console manufacturer’s upcoming games.
In one of Sony’s video conferences for CES 2021, the tech giant showcased some of its upcoming games on the company’s new smart TVs. Discovered by ResetEra user ‘Modiz’, some legalese was included underneath the footage which inadvertently provided updated release windows for many PS5 titles.
According to the video, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will launch in 2021 – though this was already known. More interesting is the fact that Pragmata, which was slated to launch in 2022, has been pushed even further back to 2023. Other release windows include Horizon Forbidden West, which will release some time this year. Kena: Bridge of Spirits will come in March 2021, with Returnal also launching that month on the 19th. GhostWire Tokyo is slated for release later in the year, in October of 2021
Solar Ash, which is developed by the same team behind Hyper Light Drifter, will release in June 2021, with Little Devil Inside following in July. Project Athia, a PS5 console exclusive from Square Enix, is said to be coming in January 2022, though as with all of these dates, expect them to possibly change.
While there are many other announced PS5 titles which did not receive any updates, such as the new God of War, it is worth remembering that these dates came from the fineprint at the bottom of a video unrelated to PS5, meaning that Sony most likely did not expect fans to scrutinise the details so thoroughly.
Still, it’ll be interesting to see whether these dates remain stable, or if some will eventually slip from their intended release schedules. Either way, 2021 is looking to be a stacked year for the PS5.
